Makoto Terada, known professionally as Mugihito, is a Japanese voice actor, narrator, and stage actor. He was born on August 8, 1944, in Musashino, Tokyo. Terada comes from a family of performers, being the son of kabuki actor Yoshizaburo Arashi V and the younger brother of voice actress Michie Terada. His career in entertainment began at a young age, as he started performing in kabuki theater as a child. He began working as a voice actor in the late 1960s. Over the course of his long career, he has been credited under several names, including his real name Makoto Terada, as well as Den Oomaeda and Mugihito Amachi, before settling on the stage name Mugihito.

As a voice actor, Makoto Terada has an extensive filmography that spans from the 1960s to the present day. In his early career, he provided the Japanese voice for the character Jeff Bridges in the series The King Kong Show. He also played the role of Denki Matsushita in the series Ninjaman Ippei. His voice is particularly known for its depth and authority, which has led him to be frequently cast in roles of elder statesmen, patriarchs, villains, and wise old mentors. Among his most iconic anime roles are Keel Lorenz, the enigmatic leader of SEELE in Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Kaseki, the enthusiastic ancient craftsman in Dr. Stone. Other significant roles include Sigma, the primary antagonist in the Mega Man X video game series, Doppo Orochi in Baki the Grappler, Kinzo Ushiromiya in Umineko: When They Cry, and Rowen J. Ilbert in Tales of Xillia. He has also voiced characters in major series such as One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen as Yoshinobu Gakuganji, and Cyborg. Isaac Gilmore.

A significant part of Makoto Terada's career is dedicated to dubbing foreign films and television series. He is renowned as the regular Japanese dubbing voice for actor Patrick Stewart, providing the voice for Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men film series. His dubbing work also extends to the voices of actors such as Michael Caine.
