Guido Jonckers
Description
Guido Jonckers is a Dutch actor, voice actor, and theatre director known primarily for his work in Dutch-language dubbing of animated series. He was born Egidius Johannes Jonckers on October 24, 1947, in The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands. His career in performance has been active from 1975 to the present day, encompassing extensive work in Dutch theatre as both an actor and a director, with a particular expertise in the plays of Anton Chekhov.
Within the context of anime, Jonckers is most recognized for his role as the voice of the title character Boes (also known as Olly the Ox) in the Dutch version of the Japanese-Dutch co-production Ox Tales. This series, originally titled The Tales of Boes' Gang (Geragera Būsu Monogatari), aired from 1987 to 1988 and was based on a Dutch comic strip. Jonckers provided the Dutch voice for Boes across all 101 episodes of the series from 1988 to 1991, and it remains his most prominent anime credit.
His voice work is intrinsically linked to the Dutch anime industry of the late 1980s, notably through a recurring collaboration with actress Gerry Middelburg. In Ox Tales, while Jonckers voiced Boes, Middelburg voiced the character Dolly, and the two are listed as frequent collaborators in Dutch voice-over productions from this period. Beyond Ox Tales, Jonckers also contributed to other anime productions of the era. He is credited as a voice actor for the series Fat牛牛贝斯 in 1988 and 福星鸭小子 in 1989, which are further examples of his work in Japanese-Dutch animated co-productions. In addition to his voice work, Jonckers has maintained a long career as a stage actor with the De Haagsche Comedie theatre company, taking on roles in dozens of productions from the mid-1970s through the 1980s, including performances in classic works such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and The Threepenny Opera.
