Kumiko Ohba is a Japanese actress, singer, and psychological counselor born on January 6, 1960, in Saitama, Japan. She began her entertainment career in the 1970s and became a well-known figure in Japanese television. One of her most significant early roles was the lead part in the 1978 live-action television drama Princess Comet, where she played the titular character, Comet-san. This role established her as a popular actress of her generation and created a lasting association with the Princess Comet franchise.

Her connection to the franchise continued decades later when she participated in its anime adaptation. In the 2001 anime series Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san, Ohba did not reprise the lead role but instead voiced Spica, who is also known as Miho Hiiragi.
