Juan Domingo Mendez was a Mexican actor and dubbing director who worked extensively in theater, radio, television, and voice acting. His career in voice work included serving as a dubbing director, a translator, and an actor providing voices for animated series and films. He began his professional acting career at the age of ten, performing regional theater in Yucatán and working as a radio actor. In 1940, he moved to Mexico City, where he continued working in radio soap operas and theater. Between 1944 and 1945, he was selected to go to New York to perform Spanish dubbing for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He then spent four years in New York studying theater at Columbia University before returning to Mexico at the end of 1948. In 1954, he began dubbing in Mexico City.

Within anime, Juan Domingo Mendez is recognized for his contributions to the Latin American Spanish dub of several series. He performed the role of the Narrator in the series Space Pirate Captain Harlock, as well as the role of the Prime Minister in the same series. He also voiced the character Gilmore in the film Cyborg 009 and the Monster Wars and played Papa de Kum Kum, also known as Brazo Fuerte, in the series Wanpaku Omukashi Kumu Kumu. In addition to his on-microphone work, he was possibly the dubbing director for the Mexican Spanish dub of Space Pirate Captain Harlock, which is believed to have been produced around 1979.
