Leonel Abrantes, born Leonel da Costa Abrantes on July 17, 1937, in Rio de Janeiro, was a Brazilian voice actor whose career began in radio before transitioning to television and dubbing. He entered the dubbing industry in 1975, working with several major studios over the following decades. Among his credits in anime, Abrantes voiced the character Cecco in the Brazilian Portuguese dub of the series Peter Pan & Wendy. Beyond his work in animation, he was widely recognized as the voice of Ned Flanders in the Brazilian version of The Simpsons and also voiced Dr. McCoy in a later dubbing of Star Trek. His voice was also familiar to audiences as the announcer who said “Versão Brasileira: Telecine” during the 1980s and 1990s. Leonel Abrantes passed away in Rio de Janeiro on February 6, 2020, at the age of 82.
