Mugi Mameta is the original creator behind the light novel series Dinners with My Darling: How the Former Monster King Ate Her Way to Happiness. Mameta is credited as the author of the original story, which began as a web novel published on the user-generated site Shosetsuka ni Naro in April 2022. The series was later acquired for print publication by Futabasha under its M Novels F imprint, with the first light novel volume released in October 2022 featuring illustrations by Nagisa Hanazome.
