Donald Guzzi
Description
Donald Guzzi is an American voice actor and director with over a decade of experience in the audio industry, primarily known for his work in English dubs of anime series. His career began not in performance, but in audio engineering. He studied at the SAE Institute in Miami with the goal of working in live sound, but discovered a passion for post-production while a student there. After graduating, he worked as a quality control engineer at the dubbing studio Universal Synergia. His path to voice acting began when he persistently asked the casting director for an opportunity to perform; after six months, he was finally given a chance and began landing small roles, eventually building a career as a freelance voice over artist while continuing to work in various engineering and directing capacities.
Guzzi's anime voice credits include a variety of roles across several series. He is the voice of the narrator in the comedic series My Deer Friend Nokotan. He has a substantial role in the Hulu English dub of Gintama, where he voices the prominent character Shinsuke Takasugi, as well as several other characters throughout the series. He also provided the voice for the character Tōdō in the 2018 anime short Mecha-Ude. Beyond these, his anime work includes roles in OBSOLETE and a Shin Chan spin-off. His voice work also extends to other animated projects, such as the film The Oddsockeaters.
In addition to his on-microphone work, Guzzi is an accomplished voice director and audio engineer. He has directed the graphic audio production of The Stormlight Archive, an audiobook series based on the novels by Brandon Sanderson. His career is marked by a progression through nearly every role in post-production, from quality control and recording to mixing and sound design, an experience that informs both his performance and his direction.
