Shinbo Nomura

Description
Shinbo Nomura is a Japanese manga artist born on September 24, 1955, in Minamikayabe, a town that is now part of Hakodate in Hokkaido Prefecture. His real name is Shin Nomura. He began his career in the manga industry as an assistant to the acclaimed manga creator Kenshi Hirokane.

Nomura is best known as the original creator of the yonkoma, or four-panel, comedy manga Tsurupika Hagemaru. The series was serialized in Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic magazine from 1985 to 1995 and was later compiled into 25 collected volumes. The story follows a young, money-saving boy named Hagemaru and his similarly frugal family in a lighthearted comedic setting.

The popularity of the manga led to an anime television adaptation titled Tsurupika Hagemaru-kun, which aired from March 3, 1988, to October 6, 1989, on TV Asahi. The anime series, produced by the animation studio Shin-Ei Animation, consisted of 58 to 59 episodes. For his work on Tsurupika Hagemaru, Nomura received the 1987 Shogakukan Manga Award in the children's manga category.

Beyond his signature work, Nomura created several other manga series. His earlier works include Todoroke Ichiban, which began serialization in 1980, and Otoko Toragoro from 1983. Later, he created series such as Hotto ke Kojizou-kun, which ran from 1996, and Dosukoi Saibon from 1998. He also later created a manga adaptation of the video game Ratchet & Clank. His body of work remained largely associated with Shogakukan's publications, including CoroCoro Comic and its related magazines.
