Description
Kinue Amano is a cheerful and hardworking salesperson at the Enchizewa department store in Tokyo, where she holds the top sales record in the futon and bedding section. She is content with her simple, unfashionable appearance and is more interested in her job and her long-term boyfriend Tatsuya than in style. Her world is turned upside down when she is abruptly transferred to the women’s clothing department, a glamorous and high-pressure environment where she is completely out of her depth.

Kinue’s new boss is the legendary and demanding Miki Jinbo, a career woman in her forties who was recruited from Paris to revitalize the department. With a sharp tongue and an unyielding philosophy that wearing boring clothes leads to a boring life, Miki immediately sees Kinue’s lack of fashion sense as an insult to her department. Kinue struggles to relate to customers and clashes with her stylish new colleagues, including the young and ambitious Ryo Sasaki, who mocks her taste.

Determined to survive in her new role, Kinue embarks on a complete personal and professional transformation. Under the reluctant mentorship of the eccentric but passionate chief buyer Yusaku Tabuchi, she begins to learn the intricacies of fashion, merchandising, and what it means to truly serve a customer. As she sheds her frumpy image and develops a sharp eye, Kinue earns the grudging respect of her peers and her demanding boss, Miki. Her newfound passion for work, however, puts a dangerous strain on her relationship with Tatsuya, who dreams of leaving Tokyo to take over his family’s business, a future that does not include Kinue’s burgeoning career in high fashion.

Over the course of eleven episodes, the narrative follows Kinue’s rise as she takes on greater responsibilities, from assisting Miki to becoming a junior buyer. She navigates intense rivalries with competing department stores and the moral complexities of the fashion industry. The series culminates in a pivotal choice between her stable, traditional personal life and the demanding but fulfilling professional world she has come to love, ultimately forcing Kinue to define for herself what it means to be a successful and authentic woman.
