Description
In August 1987, a young girl named Tokko is left alone for a day in her family’s large house while her parents and siblings are away. The story unfolds entirely within this single day, following Tokko as she navigates the quiet, spacious rooms and the strange, suspended atmosphere that descends when a familiar home suddenly feels different without the presence of adults. There is no dramatic external conflict; instead, the narrative focuses on the intimate texture of childhood solitude—the way ordinary objects, silences, and small gestures take on new weight. Tokko’s experience becomes a gentle exploration of memory, time, and the peculiar freedom of being left to oneself, capturing what the creators describe as “the special time that only children know.” The film traces her hours of waiting, from the stillness of the afternoon to the eventual return of her family, weaving a quietly resonant portrait of a moment in a young life.
