Description
In a decaying town burdened by poverty, violence, drug abuse, and deep-seated social issues, two young schoolgirls—Chanel and Chihiro—face a daily life that swings between the absurdly dangerous and the bleakly mundane. Despite their town’s seedy reputation, the girls cling to a stubborn pride, repeatedly cheering “Jimoto Saikō!” (My hometown is the best!). They are surrounded by older students covered in tattoos and prone to aggression, and the local underworld is dominated by a criminal leader named Kurea. Chanel and Chihiro gradually become entangled in Kurea’s operations, learning to navigate a world of small-time crime while trying to hold onto their own sense of normalcy. Each girl carries her own quirks and personal struggles—some smoke, some dabble in drugs—yet their friendship and unyielding love for their hometown remain constant. The narrative unfolds through a series of darkly comedic episodes that contrast the characters’ cute, innocent appearances with the grim reality of their environment, touching on themes of survival, community loyalty, and the resilience of youth in the face of systemic hardship.
