18Second Battle of Tokyo
The Black Knights launch a full-scale assault on the Tokyo Settlement,deploying their naval fleet, the Ikaruga, and a massive Knightmare force under Zero’s tactical command. The Britannian garrison, reinforced by the Knights of Round, counters with the Lancelot Albion, the Mordred, and other advanced frames. Lelouch uses his Geass repeatedly on enemy soldiers and officers, forcing them to fire on their own allies, disable defensive systems, and create openings for the Black Knights’ advance. Suzaku Kururugi pilots the Lancelot Albion into the Ikaruga’s hangar bay, breaking through its defensive lines after a close-quarters engagement with the Black Knights’ ace pilots. Inside the Ikaruga, Suzaku confronts Zero, and Lelouch removes his mask, revealing his identity to Suzaku in a direct face-to-face encounter. Lelouch attempts to activate his Geass on Suzaku, but Suzaku avoids eye contact by closing his eyes and relying on the Lancelot’s sensors to navigate and fight. The battle devastates the Tokyo Settlement, leveling large sections of the city, collapsing government buildings, and causing extensive civilian casualties. The Black Knights suffer critical losses as the Ikaruga takes heavy damage from the Britannian counterattack, with several Knightmare squadrons annihilated. 19Betrayal
Nina's FLEIJA warhead destroys a large section of the Tokyo Settlement,killing millions. Suzaku stands in the resulting crater, realizing he triggered the weapon. Lelouch, desperate to find Nunnally, orders the Black Knights to continue the search. Todoh disobeys and orders a retreat, and Jeremiah and Rolo forcibly bring Lelouch back to the Ikaruga. In his quarters, Lelouch reveals his hatred for Rolo, admitting he has tried to kill him multiple times. Schneizel arrives aboard the Ikaruga and reveals Zero's identity as Lelouch vi Britannia to the Black Knights' leadership. He presents a list of individuals Lelouch has controlled with Geass and plays a recording of Lelouch admitting to using Geass on Euphemia. Ougi agrees to surrender Lelouch to Schneizel in exchange for Japan's independence. Kallen leads Lelouch to the hangar, where the Black Knights surround him with weapons. Lelouch removes his mask, declares he manipulated everyone for his own amusement, and tells Kallen to live. Rolo pilots the Shinkiro into the hangar and uses his Geass repeatedly to extract Lelouch. The overuse of his Geass causes Rolo's heart to fail, and he dies after flying Lelouch to safety. Lelouch buries Rolo with the locket he had intended for Nunnally and vows to kill the Emperor himself.
20Emperor Dismissed
On Kamine Island,Emperor Charles activates a global synchronization of ruins to initiate the Sword of Akasha. Aboard the Ikaruga, Anya’s eyes glow red, and Marianne vi Britannia, speaking through Anya’s body, reveals herself to C.C. Marianne enters the World of C, restores C.C.’s memories, and questions why C.C. sealed her own Code. Schneizel declares Emperor Charles unfit to rule, citing his indifference toward war and his obsession with Geass research. Suzaku requests promotion to Knight of One and permission to assassinate the emperor, abandoning his previous ideals for results-driven action. On Kamine Island, Suzaku attacks Charles, but Bismarck Waldstein, wielding his own Geass, repels him. Lelouch arrives in the Shinkiro, uses his Geass to turn Britannian soldiers against their allies, and enters the Sword of Akasha. Charles boasts his immortality and immunity to Geass, but Lelouch detonates a remote charge on the island’s ruins. Nunnally,alive and aboard Schneizel’s flagship, declares Lelouch and Suzaku her enemies after learning Lelouch is Zero. She questions whether he waged war for her sake, and Lelouch responds by cruelly laughing and claiming he acted only for himself, cutting off communication. Inside the Avalon, a shaken Lelouch hides his turmoil until Suzaku grabs him and reinforces their commitment to the Zero Requiem plan, vowing to act as Lelouch’s sword while ordering C.C. to be his shield. Schneizel lies to Nunnally by assuring her the people of Pendragon were evacuated before the FLEIJA strike, then reveals to Cornelia his true objective: launching the Damocles into orbit to hold the world hostage with upgraded FLEIJA warheads. Cornelia draws her sword to stop him, but Schneizel has her shot dead by a concealed turret. Sayoko explains to Jeremiah that a decoy shuttle was destroyed while she and Nunnally escaped separately, confirming Schneizel orchestrated Nunnally’s survival. The Black Knights, allied with Schneizel, move to confront Lelouch’s forces in Japan. Lelouch takes the UFN representatives hostage aboard the Avalon, leveraging their lives to negotiate and delay Schneizel’s use of FLEIJA. During the ensuing naval battle, Lelouch detonates the Sakuradite deposits beneath Mount Fuji, creating a massive volcanic explosion that decimates both his own and Schneizel’s ground forces. Schneizel convinces Nunnally to launch a FLEIJA warhead, and Lelouch forces his troops to trigger the bomb mid-air to contain the blast. With his tactical options exhausted and the enemy Damocles still operational, Lelouch faces a desperate situation, relying on Nina, a woman who despises him for Euphemia’s death, to develop a countermeasure to the FLEIJA.

Lelouch and Suzaku stage a confrontation before the assembled leaders of the Black Knights and the United Federation of Nations. Suzaku, as Zero, drives his sword through Lelouch’s chest on the stage of the former imperial palace. As he dies, Lelouch reveals to his sister Nunnally that his ultimate goal was to concentrate all evil and suffering onto himself, thereby creating a peaceful world united against his memory. Through the geass left in her eye, Nunnally witnesses Lelouch’s memories and understands the full scope of his sacrifice. Following his death, Suzaku permanently assumes the identity of Zero and becomes the public face of global order. Nunnally takes up the role of the official representative for the UFN, working alongside the reborn Black Knights to establish lasting peace. The remaining rulers accept the new order, and the world enters an era of reconciliation built upon the lie of the benevolent Zero who defeated the demon emperor. C.C., having completed her contract with Lelouch, reflects on his actions while speaking to him in a contemplative moment, leaving the nature of his final fate ambiguous.
