Description
Nezumi-Kaijin, also referred to as the Rat Mutant, is a kaijin created by the secret organization Gorgom in the television series Kamen Rider BLACK. This monster embodies the traits of a rat and appears in episodes 36 and 38 of the series, first emerging after the Three High Priests of Gorgom transform into their grand mutant forms.
The Rat Mutant was designed for infiltration and deception. It takes on the human identity of a man named Kishimoto and infiltrates a group that opposes the EP Party, intending to capture all members of the anti-EP organization in a single operation. Its plan includes killing Kotaro Minami, the protagonist who becomes Kamen Rider BLACK, when he makes contact with the group. However, its true nature is discovered, and it is forced to reveal its monster form and engage in direct combat with Kamen Rider BLACK.
In terms of personality, the Rat Mutant is cunning and opportunistic, relying on stealth and manipulation to achieve its objectives before resorting to open battle. It shows a willingness to use ordinary rats as tools, transforming them into human-like servants under its control. Its motivations align with Gorgom's broader goal of eliminating opposition and asserting dominance over human society.
The character's role in the story is that of a mid-tier monster sent to carry out a specific mission for Gorgom. It does not have a long-term arc or deep relationship with other characters, but it serves as a physical antagonist that tests Kamen Rider BLACK's abilities. Its key relationship is with the Gorgom organization, acting as an agent of their will. There is no significant development for the Rat Mutant across the series; it appears, performs its mission, and is ultimately defeated.
Notable abilities include exceptional agility and speed, which it relies on as its primary combat philosophy. It attacks by striking with its claws and fangs and uses its long tail like a whip to lash at opponents. Additionally, it can take control of ordinary rats and reshape them into human-like forms, using them as spies or foot soldiers. Despite its swift movements and ability to momentarily confuse Kamen Rider BLACK, it cannot land a decisive blow. During the fight, its tail is severed, and it is destroyed after receiving the Rider Kick, causing it to explode.
