Description
Tatsuhisa "Luke" Kamijō, also known as Lucidien Kallister, attends Goha 7th Elementary School as a fifth-grade student. Hailing from a family steeped in martial arts traditions, he underwent rigorous training with his older sister, Haruka "Tiger" Kamijō, who achieved mastery early. Luke aspired to earn recognition by defeating Tiger, yet faced consistent losses in their challenges, including dueling. Driven by these repeated defeats, he disguised himself as an adult to battle professional duelists at a local center, but still couldn't overcome Tiger. Intrigued by an urban legend promising the title "King of Duels" to anyone who challenged a mysterious entity, Luke ventured into an underground chamber. There, he dueled a holographic figure (later revealed as Otes, a Goha Corporation engineer) six times. Each defeat incurred penalties, culminating in his account being banned.
Luke possesses intense ambition and self-confidence, boldly proclaiming himself the "Number One Duelist" at school. He frequently exaggerates his accomplishments, though his friends readily see through these claims. Upon overhearing Yuga Ohdo's plans for "Rush Duels," Luke became deeply invested, believing this new format was his path to becoming the King of Duels. He aided Yuga in accessing the Relic's Chamber to install Rush Duel programming, utilizing his unique "Luke Devil" ability to disable electronic devices and thwart a Goha Corporation drone. Yuga later attributed this ability to the Pauli effect, whereas Luke initially thought it stemmed from demonic possession. Luke also possesses the rare ability to communicate with Duel Monster spirits.
Despite his personal ambitions, Luke demonstrated loyalty to Yuga. He supported Yuga's decision to publicize Rush Duels despite knowing it risked retaliation from Goha Corporation. Luke harbors profound distrust of the corporation, fearing it would shut down Rush Duels and ruin his aspirations. This distrust manifests as paranoia, leading him to accuse friends like Romin Kirishima of being Goha spies over minor suspicious behaviors. He is also a technophobe, preferring to destroy malfunctioning electronics rather than repair them.
Luke employs a Dragon-themed deck focused on aggressive tactics, enabling his monsters to attack twice per turn while destroying opposing Spell and Trap cards. His duel record includes victories against opponents such as Yuga Ohdo, Roa Kirishima, and his sister Tiger, alongside losses to figures like The☆Lukeman and Yuga in their final duel. Significant wins include defeating multiple Goha Siblings and participating in the Goha Rush Duel Team Battle Royal.
Luke's character evolved from a self-centered rival to a more cooperative ally. His initial obsession with becoming the King of Duels gradually tempered, particularly after Yuga Ohdo defeated him in their climactic duel in episode 92. This loss humbled him and resolved his inflated ego. His relationship with Tiger progressed beyond sibling rivalry; during the Goha Employee arc, he confronted her over her harsh methods, showing newfound assertiveness. By the series' conclusion, Luke's loyalty to his friends and commitment to Rush Duels remained central to his identity, with no indication of his journey continuing in spin-offs like *Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!!* beyond Yuga's involvement.
