Description
Rinnosuke Nanahoshi attends Goha 7th Elementary as student council secretary. He shares a twin bond with Rayne Nanahoshi, and together they aid Gavin Sogetsu in upholding school discipline, continuing their family's generations-long tradition of ninja service to the Sogetsu line.
His appearance features fair skin, hazel eyes, and sharply styled orange hair with a single front bang. He wears rectangular glasses sporting a red half-frame. Rinnosuke dons the standard Goha 7th Elementary uniform: a teal waistcoat over a white shirt and blue tie, grey shorts, knee-high blue socks, and brown slip-ons. For Sogetsu Style duties or assisting Romin Kassidy in the kitchen, he switches to traditional Kuroko attire—a charcoal veil, grey top and pants, black tunic and shoes, and a red sash.
Rinnosuke exhibits intense loyalty to Gavin, defending their relationship fiercely against any perceived slight. Initially opposed to Rush Dueling, he urged Gavin to abandon it and refocus on duties, but gradually developed his own appreciation for the game. This shift led him to support preventing Yuga Ohdo's disqualification during a duel. While typically serious, he displays moments of levity, teasing Rayne about her crushes. He also experiences fleeting romantic interests, including a brief crush on Romin Kassidy sparked when she touched his shoulder and thanked him.
His connection with Rayne shows profound understanding, often communicating wordlessly. He acts protectively, stepping in when her romantic fantasies threaten embarrassment. Though initially portrayed as near-identical to his sister, their personalities diverge. Rayne grows more cynical and ambitious, while Rinnosuke remains steadfastly loyal to Gavin. This contrast sharpens when Rayne temporarily leaves Gavin's service for Neiru Saionji, while Rinnosuke stays. Rayne's eventual return underscores their evolving differences.
As a duelist, Rinnosuke commands a Flowerfang Deck centered on Plant-type ninja monsters. His strategy prioritizes destruction effects and burn damage, differing from Rayne's swarm tactics. Key cards include Flowerfang Crest Stella, Flowerfang Shinobi Gatling, Flowerfang Comeback, and Flowerfang Snowstorm. His duel record includes a draw against Rayne and a loss to Gavin Sogetsu.
Throughout his journey, Rinnosuke maintains core loyalty and duty while adapting to new experiences like Rush Dueling. His role evolves from background assistant to a defined character who balances traditional service with personal growth, particularly in supporting Gavin's own evolution.
