Description
Kidokoro is a supporting character in the 2001 film The Princess Blade. He serves as a middleman for an insurrectionist movement operating in a future Japan under a repressive feudal-like rule. In this capacity, his primary function is to act as a liaison, sent to recruit and entice the young rebel Takashi into participating in anarchist actions against the established order.

Kidokoro is depicted as a duplicitous and morally ambiguous figure. He presents himself as part of the rebel network, laconically insisting on its undefined ideals as a justification for violence. However, his loyalty is not straightforward, as he is also described as a man who does secret work for the government, revealing a self-serving nature that prioritizes his own survival and interests over any political cause. His personality is marked by a theatrical and sinister quality, often seen chewing gum with a comic and unnerving zeal that betrays his villainous role in the story.

Motivated by self-preservation and personal gain rather than genuine ideological commitment, Kidokoro navigates the dangerous conflict between the ruling powers and the rebels. His role in the story is to act as a catalyst for Takashi, pushing him toward more direct action against the regime. He maintains a key relationship with Takashi, functioning as his contact and handler within the insurrectionist movement, though his true intentions cast this connection in a suspicious light. Furthermore, he is shown to live with and care for a brother who has a mental disability, a personal attachment that complicates his ruthless character and ultimately becomes a point of vulnerability.

Throughout the film, Kidokoro's development is tied to his duplicitous dealings. His secret work for the government leads to a violent confrontation when his government contact arrives to eliminate him and his brother, demonstrating the fatal consequences of his double-crossing actions and the brutal world he inhabits. He does not possess notable martial prowess on the level of the Takemikazuchi assassins, but his notable abilities lie in his cunning, manipulation, and survival instinct as he attempts to play both sides of a conflict for his own benefit.
