Description
Sonya, a young elf born in Russia and displaced to Japan amid the Meiji Restoration, carries the scars of her parents’ murder by the Inferni—a faction hunting her for her rare gift as a Bright. This title grants her the perilous ability to command an ancient wand, an artifact capable of birthing life or unleashing devastation. Forced into a fugitive existence, she is captured in Kyoto and confined within a brothel, where she crosses paths with Chihaya, a courtesan concealing her elven heritage and fragmented history. When Chihaya dies shielding Sonya, she bequeaths her a mystical hairpin and a final plea: deliver it to Hakodate, an elven sanctuary in the north. This charge propels Sonya into a treacherous odyssey, hunted by enemies yet driven by duty.

Haunted by her family’s drowning in a shipwreck, Sonya harbors a paralyzing fear of water. Her resilience intertwines with raw vulnerability, fueling clashes with her reluctant guardians: Izou, a stoic ronin, and Raiden, an orc defying societal scorn through quiet compassion. Though headstrong and defiant, Sonya gradually forges trust with Raiden, their bond challenging her preconceptions.

The wand she guards embodies her turmoil—its power to radiate light or summon darkness reflecting her struggle to master its might without succumbing to fear. In a decisive confrontation, Sonya channels the wand’s light to vanquish a foe intent on reviving the Dark Lord, cementing her agency as a Bright. Her evolution from a traumatized youth to a beacon of hope is woven with threads of loyalty and self-discovery, shaped by Chihaya’s sacrifice and the uneasy alliance with her protectors. Each step toward Hakodate deepens her grasp of trust, sacrifice, and the weight of legacy she must carry.
