Description
Chie Morishita is a character introduced in the early episodes of the series. Her background is established through her relationship with Yuji Kiba, of whom she was the girlfriend before a tragic car crash that resulted in his death. Following this incident, Chie moved on with her life and entered into a relationship with Yuji Kiba's cousin, Kazuaki Kiba.
Chie's role in the story is central to the initial tragedy that defines Yuji Kiba's character. When Yuji returns two years later, having been revived as the Horse Orphnoch, he discovers that Chie has left him for his cousin. Consumed by a maddened rage, Yuji confronts Kazuaki and loses control, assuming his Orphnoch form to kill him before realizing the horror of his actions. The situation worsens when Chie, speaking to the police about Kazuaki's murder, names Yuji as the culprit. This accusation, made when she notices him nearby, utterly breaks him, as he realizes that Chie no longer sees him as a friend or loved one. In a state of scorn and heartbreak, Yuji later murders Chie as well.
Beyond her direct relationship with Yuji, Chie's legacy affects other characters. Her older brother, Yoshimasa Morishita, is intent on finding his sister's murderer and pleads for Yuji's aid, unaware of Yuji's guilt. Yuji refuses out of regret, but this quest for vengeance leads to Yoshimasa being attacked by the Flyingfish Orphnoch and turning into the Armadillo Orphnoch himself, eventually going on a violent rampage. Chie's fate is therefore a catalyst for further tragedy, illustrating the chain of despair that follows the emergence of Orphnoch powers. She has no notable abilities of her own, functioning entirely as a civilian character whose life becomes entangled in the violent conflicts between humans and Orphnoch. Her importance lies in how her loss shapes the motivations and psychological state of those who knew her, particularly Yuji Kiba.
