Description
Poisonee, whose name is also rendered as Poisony, is a villain from the first Pretty Cure television series, Futari wa Pretty Cure, where she is known as Pandora in the English dub. She is a member of the Dark Five, the elite group of warriors who serve the ruler of the Dusk Zone, and she is the only woman among them. Poisonee becomes active in the story after the defeat of her ally Gekidrago, appearing from the twelfth episode through the twentieth as the third member of the Dark Five to confront the heroines. She carries an orange octahedral crystal pendant that holds the Prism Stone entrusted to her.
In appearance, Poisonee is a tall woman with pale skin and pointed ears. She has long, dark crimson hair that becomes wavier below the shoulders, with two strands always hanging over her right eye. Her almond-shaped eyes are reddish pink with yellow around the pupils, and she wears lavender eye shadow and red lipstick. Her outfit is a form-fitting black garment resembling leather, combining heeled boots, a V-neck dress, and fingerless gloves, all covered by a long black cape trimmed in red. Her overall look is similar to a classic depiction of a vampire.
Poisonee is analytical, cunning, and merciless. She is largely devoid of mercy or a sense of honor, and her methods are ruthless enough that she is willing to attack people who have no connection to her mission. Her approach is more calculated and discreet than that of her colleagues; rather than making a dramatic display when summoning her monsters, she typically snaps her fingers to call forth Zakenna creatures. She considers herself a strategist, and although the heroines denounce her tactics as cowardly, she dismisses that criticism. She is fiercely proud of her battle experience and her survival through many conflicts, and she believes that experience and strength matter more than youthful passion. At one point she declares that justice without power is worse than evil, reflecting her conviction that the heroines' ideals are meaningless without the ability to support them.
Her motivation is loyalty to the Evil King, the ruler of the Dusk Zone, and the completion of the mission to collect the Prism Stones. She pursues this goal with determination and treats the recovery of the stones as her duty. Her loyalty, however, is not without suspicion. Even toward her younger brother Kiriya, who is also a member of the Dark Five, she shows guarded affection but threatens him if she believes he is betraying the Evil King. Despite those threats, the siblings are not openly hostile to each other; they exchange sharp remarks, and she shows concern for Kiriya when she senses that he is developing feelings for Honoka, one of the heroines. For his part, Kiriya worries about her as she faces her final confrontation.
