TV-Series
Description
Historia Reiss is introduced as a petite young woman with long blonde hair and large blue eyes, standing as the smallest member of the 104th Training Corps. Initially serving under the alias Krista Lenz, she is an illegitimate child of Rod Reiss, the true noble ruler of the walls, and a concubine. Because of her hidden royal lineage, she was raised in isolation on a remote farm without knowing her father. After her mother was killed by agents of the Interior Squad, Rod Reiss forced her to renounce her name and identity, sending her into the military under the false name Krista Lenz with the expectation that she would likely die in service.

In her persona as Krista, she presents a gentle, shy, and selfless demeanor. She is known for her kindness, often helping others and earning the nickname "Goddess" or "Angel" from her peers for her caring nature. However, this persona is later revealed to be a constructed act based on a character from a picture book she read as a child. The real Historia, hidden beneath this facade, initially feels empty and believes she is unwanted by the world. Having been unloved by her mother and rejected by her family, she harbored deep-seated suicidal inclinations, viewing death as a way to be remembered fondly without being a burden to others.

Historia’s primary motivation evolves from a desire for a noble death to a fierce determination to live with pride and purpose. For much of her early life, she struggled with her identity, feeling that she had no true self. The kindness shown to her by Ymir and later by Eren Yeager helps her reject her fatalistic worldview. When forced by her father to inherit the Founding Titan and become a puppet ruler, she defies him, choosing to save Eren instead. This act of rebellion leads her to embrace her identity as the true heir to the throne. She eventually kills her father after he transforms into a massive Titan, declaring herself the rightful ruler of the walls.

Her role in the story shifts from a secondary soldier to a pivotal political figure. As the last known surviving member of the Reiss royal family, she holds the key to the secrets of the walls and the true history of the Titans. After a coup d'état overthrows the corrupt government, Historia is crowned Queen of Eldia. Unlike the previous monarchs influenced by the First King's ideology, she rules with the support of the military, establishing orphanages and using royal funds to aid the poor, symbolizing a break from the oppressive past.

Key relationships profoundly shape her development. Her bond with Ymir is the most intimate of her life; Ymir sees through her fake persona and encourages her to live for herself, leading Historia to drop the Krista act. The relationship is deeply mutual, with Historia willing to abandon humanity to stay by Ymir’s side. Eren Yeager also plays a crucial role, as he tells her that he prefers the "real" Historia over the fake Krista, giving her the confidence to defy her father. Conversely, her relationship with her father, Rod Reiss, is antagonistic; he views her only as a tool to reclaim power, forcing her to ultimately kill him. Her half-sister, Frieda Reiss, also left a lasting impression, serving as a kind role model whose memories were tragically erased.

Throughout the series, Historia undergoes significant development from a suicidal girl playing a role to a decisive queen. After her coronation, she largely ceases front-line combat but remains a symbol of hope and legitimacy for humanity within the walls. Notably, she ranks 10th in the 104th Training Corps, proving her competence in combat and Omni-Directional Mobility Gear. Her royal blood also makes her a crucial element in understanding the powers of the Titans, specifically the Founding Titan. Later in the timeline, she becomes pregnant, a development that keeps her out of active conflict while she continues to fulfill her duties as the monarch.
