Description
Angelo Sauper is a young officer within the Neo Zeon remnant faction known as the Sleeves, where he holds the rank of captain or lieutenant and serves as the devoted commander of the royal guard for the faction's leader, Full Frontal. At the age of nineteen, he is characterized by a striking appearance, including silver or gray hair and violet eyes, and is known for his fastidious, almost narcissistic personal habits, such as wearing perfume and displaying a strong aversion to dirt.

His entire existence is defined by an absolute and fanatical loyalty to Full Frontal. Angelo sees his leader as a savior and a "red archangel," and he is prepared to carry out any order, no matter how ruthless, if it serves Frontal's goals. This devotion manifests as an arrogant and contemptuous demeanor towards nearly everyone else, including his allies. He openly dismisses veterans of the original Principality of Zeon as outdated and frequently clashes with other members of the Sleeves, such as Captain Suberoa Zinnerman and the cyber-newtype pilot Marida Cruz, whom he views with disdain as a tool.

Angelo's obsessive loyalty and deep-seated hatred for the Earth Federation are rooted in a profoundly traumatic past. As a young child living in the Globe district of Side 3, he witnessed his father being murdered and his mother gang-raped by rampaging Federation soldiers near the end of the One Year War. His psychological scars were compounded in the following years, as his mother remarried a man who sexually abused Angelo nightly from the age of nine. After his mother eventually committed suicide, a teenage Angelo survived for three years by working as a male prostitute before eventually being rescued, in his view, by Full Frontal. This rescue is the sole source of his motivation, and he follows Frontal with a blind faith that is both his defining strength and his ultimate weakness.

Within the story, Angelo's primary role is as the steadfast, protective shadow to Full Frontal. He pilots custom, violet-colored mobile suits, starting with a Geara Zulu and later upgrading to the Rozen Zulu, a unit designed specifically for anti-Newtype combat. His skills as a pilot are considerable, making him a formidable asset to the Sleeves in battle, where he often engages in long-range firefights. However, his personal role becomes increasingly defined by his intense and jealous rivalry with the protagonist, Banagher Links. He views Banagher, a young man who has found connection and purpose without losing himself, with a mixture of inferiority and hatred, particularly because Full Frontal shows interest in the boy.

Throughout the conflict, Angelo remains a barrier to understanding and peace, his judgment clouded by trauma and devotion. His character arc culminates in a final, desperate battle against Banagher. During their fight, the psycho-frame technology of their mobile suits forces a resonance, allowing Banagher to witness Angelo's painful memories. Banagher responds with empathy, offering to end their fight and find mutual understanding. For Angelo, this forced sharing of his most intimate horrors is the ultimate violation, equating it to the abuses he suffered as a child. Rejecting Banagher's compassion, he chooses to self-destruct his mobile suit rather than be understood. Despite this, he survives the explosion. In the aftermath, a broken and mentally shattered Angelo finds the wreckage of Full Frontal's Sinanju and, cradling his leader's corpse, meets his own end, having fulfilled his self-appointed purpose to the last.
