Description
Orphaned at five when his archaeologist parents died during an ARCAM excavation in Iran, Yuu Ominae entered an orphanage and befriended Rie Yamabishi. His uncle Takashi Ominae and adoptive sister Akiha later brought him to the United States. There, he was forcibly conscripted into Project COSMOS, a U.S. military program brainwashing children into elite soldiers. Designated "Number 43," he participated in combat, including a South American mission where witnessing a couple's execution—triggering memories of his parents' deaths—led him to massacre COSMOS personnel. Found by Oboro, he was taken to ARCAM Corporation.
Struggling with violent impulses after returning to civilian life, Yuu killed two robbers during a home invasion and nearly killed a third before Akiha intervened, sustaining an injury. His uncle helped restore his emotional stability. Yuu then underwent military training with ARCAM under mentors Oboro and Bowman, specializing in knife combat and qigong martial arts, becoming a Spriggan agent tasked with securing dangerous ancient relics called OOPArts.
Balancing high school with black ops missions, Yuu cultivated a delinquent image through frequent absences and classroom sleeping. He maintained this dual identity to preserve his connection to normalcy, fearing its loss would revert him to a "berserker" state. He used a Yamaha V-Max motorcycle for transport and resided in the penthouse of ARCAM's Japanese headquarters.
Outwardly optimistic and loyal, Yuu grappled with trauma from his COSMOS conditioning. He avoided lethal force when possible, preferring non-fatal incapacitation, though he accepted killing as a duty necessity. His commitment to ARCAM was conditional; he vowed to destroy the organization if it weaponized OOPArts malevolently. Key relationships included childhood friend Rie Yamabishi, whom he protected while concealing his Spriggan identity, and rival treasure hunter Yoshino Somei, whose relic-hunting ambitions frequently clashed with his objectives.
Equipped with an Orichalcum-powered muscle suit enhancing strength and durability, Yuu wielded a combat knife capable of cutting steel. His COSMOS and ARCAM training granted proficiency in firearms, guerrilla tactics, and close-quarters combat, earning an "S-Class" combat rating. Notable adversaries included cyborg enforcer Fat Man, wire-wielding assassin Little Boy, and psychic child soldier Colonel McDougal, whom he defeated during the Noah's Ark operation.
Post-high school, Yuu attended college while continuing ARCAM operations, including a mission in Mexico to recover the Gold Statue of Pachacamac. His character arc emphasized reconciling violent skills with a desire for humanity, often repeating his personal mantra: "The future of humanity will always be decided by us humans."
