TV-Series
Description
Hideri Kanzaki is a sixteen-year-old character who works as a waiter at the Cafe Stile. He is biologically male, but his appearance is that of an exceptionally cute and graceful girl, possessing long silver hair and teal eyes. Standing at 150 centimeters tall, his birthday is on July 10th. Hailing from the countryside, he is the son of a family of farmers who expect him to eventually take over the family business.
This expectation is in direct conflict with Hideri's personal dream, which is to become a glamorous and famous idol. He despises the idea of working on a farm and sees his job at Cafe Stile as a platform to build a fan base and prove his talent to his parents. His motivation is driven by this nightmare of inheriting the farm, making his pursuit of stardom a critical, personal battle.
In terms of personality, Hideri possesses a high degree of confidence in his own cuteness and charm, which often manifests as arrogance. He is very particular about clothing, strongly preferring cute outfits and modifying his own uniforms, typically by adding ribbons and frills. While he tries to maintain a feminine demeanor and speech, his true, more masculine nature frequently emerges. He can be blunt, harsh-tongued, and easily frustrated, and he sometimes slips into a masculine speaking style or a rural dialect. Despite his arrogance, he also has a strong, loyal, and courageous side. He hates superficial fans and values genuine admiration. One notable personality trait is his complete lack of fear when it comes to insects, a result of his upbringing on a farm. He can calmly handle pests like cockroaches while his coworkers panic. In contrast, he has a strong, sometimes traumatic aversion to smocks or children's work clothes.
Hideri's role in the story is that of the "idol" character at Cafe Stile, despite never actually singing. He joins the staff after the other members insist on hiring him, though the manager Dino is initially hesitant due to concerns about his attribute overlapping with that of Mafuyu Hoshikawa. He quickly becomes popular with customers, often receiving sweets as tips. Hideri has a notable relationship with the manager, Dino, whom he challenges and tries to impress, feeling slighted that Dino does not easily succumb to his charms. He also has a friendly, collaborative yet sometimes uneasy dynamic with Miu Amano, who involves him in her comedic and often embarrassing dojinshi projects. Kōyō Akizuki, the chef, initially wished Hideri would work in the kitchen to help with the workload. Maika Sakuranomiya provides him with a spare uniform when he first starts.
Throughout the series, Hideri demonstrates several notable abilities. Beyond his insect-handling skills, he is skilled at sewing and modifying clothes, although his perfectionism and budget constraints sometimes backfire. He is adept at managing his image on social media to please his followers. He also has experience managing a large online community and has been known to defend other creators from online harassment.
Hideri shows development through his persistent dedication to his dream. Despite the pressure from his family, he refuses to give up. In the final timeline of the story, which takes place four years later, Hideri is still actively pursuing a career as an idol. He continuously participates in auditions but consistently fails at the final stage, often due to nervousness or stress-induced stomachaches. Nevertheless, his determination to succeed never wavers.
