TV-Series
Description
Kaho Hinata is a seventeen-year-old high school girl who works as a waitress at the Cafe Stile, where she is assigned the role of the "tsundere" character. Physically, she stands out with her long blonde hair styled into twin-tails and blue eyes, possessing a tall and notably well-endowed figure for her age. Despite being perfectly suited to the tsundere archetype in appearance, her true personality is almost the complete opposite. In reality, Kaho is a cheerful, kind, and carefree individual who is naturally friendly and honest. She often has difficulty maintaining her prickly work persona, especially when a more interesting topic grabs her attention.
The most defining aspect of Kaho's character is her all-consuming passion for video games. She is a highly skilled player proficient in all genres, from role-playing games and rhythm games to complex arcade challenges like the UFO catcher. This hobby is both her greatest joy and her primary source of trouble. She frequently spends all of her money at the arcade on new games, to the point of going broke, which is her main motivation for working at the cafe. When she plays rhythm or dance games, her skill is so impressive that it often draws a crowd at the arcade. Her dedication to gaming can sometimes interfere with her work; she has been known to lose focus on her tsundere act when customers discuss video games, and on at least one occasion, she took a customer's game console to perfect a difficult level for them.
Kaho's role in the story is as one of the founding members of the Cafe Stile, having started there at the same time as her colleague Kōyō Akizuki. Her key relationships are central to her development. She shares a particularly close and subtly romantic dynamic with Akizuki, who works in the kitchen. Both are self-identified otaku with a love for games and manga, creating a strong bond of mutual understanding and comfort that others do not always share. Their relationship is filled with friendly rivalry, playful banter, and several moments of romantic tension, though it largely remains in a space of being more than friends but less than lovers. She also has a significant friendship with Mafuyu Hoshikawa. Being an only child, Kaho has a desire for siblings and often looks up to the more mature Mafuyu as an older sister figure. Mafuyu, in turn, helps Kaho with her school studies, which she struggles with significantly, and also scolds her when her otaku tendencies get out of hand, such as when Kaho tries to view adult-themed doujinshi despite being underage.
Throughout the series, Kaho shows little development in her core personality but rather reveals more depth in her relationships and circumstances. She is generally comfortable with who she is, despite trying to hide her otaku hobbies at school to avoid standing out after once accidentally revealing them. Her confidence is evident, as she wears her work costumes without hesitation. A notable event occurs after a trip to the sea, where she returns to work with a full-body tan, much to her coworkers' surprise. Looking beyond the immediate timeline, Kaho is later depicted as an office lady who maintains a very close friendship with Akizuki, even staying overnight at his apartment to play games together, indicating their bond remains strong into adulthood. Her notable abilities, beyond her gaming prowess, are limited.
She struggles with academics, has a distaste for the bitter taste of black coffee, and is not very skilled at promoting products, sometimes unintentionally pointing out their flaws to customers. However, her genuine and energetic nature, combined with her entertaining tsundere act and impressive gaming skills, consistently make her a popular figure among the cafe's clientele.
