Description
Kaguya is a character from the series Onigiri who joins the main party as its sixth member after being saved from becoming a human sacrifice in a ceremony at Yamataikoku. She has a youthful appearance consistent with a teenager, characterized by long, waist-length blonde hair and pink eyes. She is often depicted wearing an eye patch over her right eye, and is also seen with horns, a headdress, stockings, Mary Jane shoes, and a sword.
Kaguya's personality is defined by her mysterious and aloof nature. She speaks slowly and often spaces out, which makes her seem airheaded and difficult to read. Despite this shy and seemingly weak-hearted exterior, she is diligent in her efforts to be helpful to others and makes a conscious attempt to fit in with the group, even though her cultural references can be hard for them to understand. A notable aspect of her character is her deep knowledge of otaku culture, which often leads her to break the fourth wall with her genre-savvy comments.
Her background is largely shrouded in mystery. Before living in Yamataikoku, she came from a distant country, which is the source of her attire and cultural influences. From this place, she also learned about the magical stones known as Magatama. The reason for her eyepatch is unknown, though it has been hinted that her right eye is sealed for a dark reason. In Yamataikoku, she lived with Queen Himiko and a character named Nashima as half-siblings. Her primary motivation for joining the party is circumstantial; she happily accompanies them after being rescued from her fate as a sacrifice.
Within the story, Kaguya plays a vital support role due to her expertise with Magatama. Her key relationships are with Queen Himiko and Nashima, with whom she shared a home before the party's arrival. Her development is not depicted through an emotional arc but is mechanically represented through her abilities; as her affection level with the player character rises, she gains the ability to create a larger variety of better Magatama and apply more powerful enhancements.
Her most notable abilities are tied directly to the game's mechanics of crafting and upgrading. She can create Magatama, provided she is given the proper recipe and required materials. She can also enhance these stones to grant them additional abilities, though this process often demands rarer or large quantities of elemental minerals. Finally, she is able to deconstruct a Magatama back into its base components, with the amount of materials returned increasing as her affection level grows.
