Description
Daisaku Bandai is a character featured in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Future Arc. Before the events of the series, he attended Hope's Peak Academy as a member of the 66th class, where he held the title of Super High School Level Farmer due to his exceptional skills in agriculture and crop cultivation. Following the tragedy that plunged the world into chaos, he was recruited by Koichi Kizakura to join the Future Foundation, an organization dedicated to restoring hope and order. Within the Foundation, Bandai became the leader of the 11th Division, with his primary responsibility being to oversee and maintain agriculture in rural areas to help secure and manage the global food supply.

Bandai is a physically imposing figure, standing as the tallest character in the entire franchise at 213 centimeters, with a heavy, muscular build. His appearance is distinctive, featuring dark skin, cartoonish wide eyes with rosy cheeks, a large afro, and a goatee. He is typically dressed in a pale brown suit with the Future Foundation pin on the lapel, a white sweatsuit featuring a unique green circle design, and traditional wooden geta sandals, with a straw hat often seen hanging around his neck. This formidable physical presence is starkly contrasted by his personality and voice; Bandai speaks with a soft, cutesy, and feminine voice that leads many to remark on the dissonance between his look and his sound.

Personality-wise, Bandai is defined by his gentle, loving, and whimsical nature. He openly dislikes violence and conflict, which makes him appear somewhat naive compared to the more hardened members of the Future Foundation. His most notable quirk is his habit of creating and reciting his own nonsensical proverbs, such as a strawberry only gives up to three seeds. When questioned about the meanings of these sayings, Bandai cheerfully admits that they do not actually mean anything; he simply enjoys saying them. His motivations throughout the story align with his peaceful nature, as he seeks to maintain harmony and appears to be a neutral party, neither siding with the protagonist Makoto Naegi nor his accusers in the conflict that defines the Future Arc.

Bandai’s role in the Future Arc is ultimately brief but significant. He is one of the twelve Future Foundation leaders forced to participate in the Final Killing Game, a deadly scheme orchestrated by Monokuma. His key relationships are few but defined by his kind character. He shares a notable friendship with the Great Gozu, who would often help Bandai with his farming duties, making the work a fun activity. In contrast, his unique voice and strange proverbs make him a target for annoyance from Ruruka Ando, though Bandai remains unbothered by her condescension, often taking her comments as compliments. His death serves as a tragic example of the game's brutal rules. Bandai’s forbidden action, known as an NG Code, was that he was not allowed to witness violence between participants. During a tense confrontation, Juzo Sakakura kneed Ryota Mitarai, an act of violence that Bandai inadvertently witnessed. This violation instantly triggered his bracelet, injecting him with a lethal poison. Despite a desperate attempt to save him by Seiko Kimura, a skilled pharmacist, her efforts were in vain, and he died shortly after, becoming the second victim of the killing game and the first to die from violating an NG Code. This event demonstrates the lethal stakes of the killing game and highlights the tragic consequences of the arbitrary rules imposed on the participants. While his specific combat or investigative abilities are not showcased due to his early death, his notable talent in farming and agriculture is the foundation of his character and his role in the Future Foundation, dedicated not to fighting, but to rebuilding the world by securing its food supply.
