Description
Kuroe, a teenage magical girl, sports short black hair tied into twin round buns with pink ribbons and striking purple eyes. Her attire blends practicality and flair: a black cloak adorned with gray stripes, a sleeveless cropped top, a layered skirt, pink socks, and black sandals, her soul gem gleaming on her right thigh. She wields twin purple scepters, a nod to her past as a baton twirler at an unnamed religious school.

Originating from Takarazaki City, Kuroe forged her contract with Kyubey through a wish to “go out with the person I love”—a relationship that dissolved before the central narrative. She intermittently partnered with Iroha Tamaki to battle witches, though their camaraderie frayed as Kuroe’s insecurity grew over her perceived inadequacy against Iroha’s escalating prowess. This duality fueled her yearning to abandon magical girlhood while desperately mimicking the resilience of Iroha and Yachiyo Nanami.

Drawn by rumors of salvation in Kamihama City, Kuroe allied with the Wings of the Magius as a Black Feather. Though Yachiyo met her with suspicion, Kuroe admired the latter’s fortitude, believing their aims aligned. Her combat repertoire featured defensive barriers and the Connect technique, merging weapons with allies to amplify assaults.

A defining guilt stemmed from her abandonment of Kuro, a fellow magical girl she betrayed by feigning a lack of grief seeds. This act tormented Kuroe, manifesting as haunting hallucinations of Kuro. As her psyche fractured under mounting regrets, she transformed into the witch Ichizo, her mud-winged form embodying escapism—attacking aggressors yet forever barred from “the light.” Her witch’s remains solidified into an inert black star.

Her name, fusing “black” and “bay,” mirrors her shadowy motif. Design contrasts with Iroha—inverted color palettes underscoring their divergent roles—while her arc epitomizes the toll of regret, the weight of magical girl existence, and the fallout of unhealed trauma.
