Description
Jūzō Sakakura is a character from the anime Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Future Arc. He is a tall and muscular man standing at 190 centimeters, with short dark greenish-grey hair, pink eyes, and tanned skin. His attire typically consists of a heavy, dark-colored jacket with thick fur trim and a red crest on the left shoulder, worn over a white muscle shirt with black pants and boots. Sakakura was originally scouted for his exceptional talent and held the title of Ultimate Boxer, having won a world championship even before graduating from Hope's Peak Academy as part of the 74th class.

Following the Tragedy that plunged the world into chaos, Sakakura became a key member of the Future Foundation, serving as the Director of the Sixth Branch. In this role, his responsibilities include maintaining public order, suppressing insurrections, and overseeing the Special Crime Investigation Unit. His position makes him a direct participant in the Final Killing Game, a deadly conflict imposed on the Foundation's leaders.

Sakakura's personality is defined by his aggressive, hot-tempered, and brutally honest nature. He is described as the most aggressive person in the Future Foundation, with a harsh way of speaking and a tendency to resort to violence and bullying to make his point. He is often feared by those who work under him. Despite this intimidating exterior, Sakakura is noted to be capable of restraint and seriousness when the situation demands it, and his official profile indicates that he is often misunderstood; only a few people perceive his true intentions. One of his most defining traits is his absolute loyalty to his close friend and classmate, Kyōsuke Munakata. Sakakura is willing to perform any underhanded task for Kyōsuke's sake and values his friend's life and aspirations above his own. He is also close to their mutual friend, Chisa Yukizome, treating her as an equal even as he grows annoyed by her more excitable tendencies.

However, beneath this veneer of pride and strength lies a character with deep insecurities. Sakakura suffers from a fear of abandonment and being useless, feeling like a third wheel in his friendship with Kyōsuke and Chisa. He is also secretly in love with Kyōsuke, a fact he hides due to fear of rejection and his own internalized shame, which is exacerbated by his public status as a champion boxer. This secret is exploited by Junko Enoshima, who blackmails him into betraying Kyōsuke, an act that fills him with immense guilt and self-loathing. In the story, Sakakura serves as Munakata's right hand and enforcer. He is intensely hostile towards Makoto Naegi, viewing him as a rival who undeservedly defeated Junko Enoshima. His aggressive pursuit of Naegi and his allies is driven by jealousy and a desperate need to prove his usefulness to Kyōsuke, as well as his suspicion that Naegi's brand of hope is dangerous. His role is tragically complicated when Kyōsuke, driven to paranoia and despair, stabs him, believing him to be a traitor.

Sakakura undergoes notable development, particularly in his final moments. After surviving his initial wound, he cuts off his own arm to bypass the rules of the killing game's bracelet. In a final act of devotion, he sacrifices his life to turn off the power to the facility, ending the killing game and giving hope to the survivors. Before his death, he confesses his jealousy of Makoto and apologizes for his treatment of him, finally acting selflessly to protect others. As the Ultimate Boxer, his abilities are formidable, but also specific. He is capable of taking down numerous opponents with his fists alone and won a world championship as a student. However, he is often described as incompetent in all areas outside of boxing, and even within it, he is not considered the strongest, being potentially outmatched by other powerful fighters. During the Final Killing Game, his effectiveness is severely hampered by his NG Code, which forbids him from punching anyone, forcing him to improvise weapons from his environment, like pipes and chairs.
