TV-Series
Description
Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld is a central figure in her story, a student at Seidoukan Academy known for her striking appearance and formidable combat skills. She is a beautiful young girl, often described with imagery of a rose, possessing long, bright pink hair and cyan eyes. Her standard attire consists of the Seidoukan Academy uniform jacket and dress over a white blouse, accessorized with two key-like headpieces on either side of her head. Her weapon is typically held in a guard on her hip. Julis carries herself with an aura of elegance and pride, which is immediately evident to those who meet her.

Beneath this regal exterior, however, lies a complex personality. She is hot-headed, stubborn, and can come across as cold or disdainful toward people she does not know, including initially treating the protagonist Ayato Amagiri and his friends with a lack of warmth. This unfriendly facade is a defense mechanism, as she has a deep-seated fear of disappointment and rejection. In truth, she is an honorable, faithful, and fiercely loyal individual who would go to great lengths for a friend. She has a particular soft spot for children, which is a key aspect of her character. Julis dislikes relying on others and prefers to handle her burdens alone, a trait she gradually learns to overcome.

The core of Julis's motivations lies in her background as the first princess of the small European kingdom of Lieseltania. As a child, she secretly explored the town and stumbled upon an orphanage, where she formed a fast friendship with the children and nuns. She developed an especially close relationship with a girl named Orphelia Landlufen there. The orphanage became a second home to her, and the children there gave her a handmade, embroidered handkerchief that she treasures above almost anything else. When she learned that the orphanage was facing severe financial troubles, she resolved to find a way to help. Her primary reason for attending Seidoukan Academy and participating in the Festa tournaments is to win prize money to send back to the orphanage, ensuring the children and staff can survive and the doors can remain open.

In the narrative, Julis serves as a primary heroine and the initial partner to Ayato. After an awkward and combative first encounter that leads to a duel, their relationship becomes central to the story. They are eventually convinced to become tag team partners for the Phoenix Festa, one of the major tournaments. Her role is not just as a combatant but also as a catalyst for Ayato, giving him a clear purpose: to protect and support her. Throughout the series, she proves to be a reliable and powerful ally, and their bond deepens from reluctant teammates to trusted partners with a strong, unspoken understanding.

Her key relationships heavily define her actions. With Ayato, her relationship evolves from irritation and a begrudging respect for his skills to a profound trust and care, with others in their circle noticing their closeness. She has known the student council president, Claudia Enfield, since they were both young, indicating a long-standing connection. Her relationship with her older brother, Jolbert, who becomes king of Lieseltania, also touches upon her royal duties and personal life. However, her most powerful connection remains her emotional tie to the children of the orphanage, who represent both her past happiness and her present motivation.

Julis undergoes notable development, particularly in learning to trust and rely on others. Initially insistent on fighting her own battles alone, she gradually accepts Ayato's help and values his presence by her side. She warms up considerably to him and his friends, eventually addressing them by name and showing her genuine, caring nature. Her fear of letting others down remains, but she learns to channel it into strength alongside her partner rather than isolating herself.

Her notable abilities are formidable, earning her the title of the Glühen Rose or Witch of the Resplendent Flames. As a Genestella, she is a Strega, a female ability-user who can manipulate prana, a form of energy. Her specific power is pyrokinetic, allowing her to create and control fire-based attacks. She typically visualizes these attacks as flowers, a motif stemming from her childhood experiences. She wields a Rapier-type Lux, a supernatural weapon. Her first weapon is named Aspera Spina, which is eventually destroyed, and she later uses the Rect Lux Nova Spina. Her moves are varied and powerful, including Longiflorum, where she creates large flower-shaped spears of fire; Amaryllis, a large fireball she can launch and detonate; Strelitzia, where she creates wings of fire on herself or an ally for enhanced mobility; and Antirrhinum Majus, a powerful dragon-shaped flame that serves as a trump card. She has a vast arsenal of similar techniques, all named after flowers, showcasing her creative and destructive control over fire.
