Description
In the world of Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn, the character known as Bur, also referred to as B.U.E.R. or Buel, originates as the central nervous unit and control key for a massive, destructive, multi-legged boring machine of the same name. This original giant robot was created by the genius scientist Uzal Delilah and initially went berserk, causing significant destruction on the island of Cenancle. After this main body was shut down, the small, intelligent unit that served as its core was recovered and subsequently came to live with the protagonists, the full-body cyborg Nene Nanakorobi and her combat android companion Clarion.

Physically, the small Bur is a unique and distinctly designed being. Its form resembles a misshapen, lion-like creature featuring a lion's head and five legs resembling those of a goat, which gives it a bizarre and somewhat whimsical appearance. This small size belies its true nature as the authentic control mechanism and key to its much larger, more dangerous original body. The character carries with it a sense of pride regarding the power of its original form.

Bur possesses a personality that is both boastful and deeply flawed. It speaks with a pompous, self-aggrandizing tone, often using a regal first-person pronoun like "yo" or "this one," and takes great pride in its own capabilities and its origins. However, this arrogance is contrasted by a notable and humorous cowardice, as it displays a strong fear of the dark. Most prominently, Bur is characterized by its perverted and lecherous nature. It has a well-documented fascination with women's thighs, going so far as to maintain a dedicated and meticulously organized digital archive of images. This compulsion leads it to constantly attempt to sexually harass Nene and Clarion, an activity that inevitably provokes a swift and violent reaction, often resulting in physical abuse and injury from the short-tempered Clarion.

The character's primary motivation revolves around its own survival and comfort. After being defeated and separated from its powerful original body, its role in the story shifts from being a primary threat to a troublesome but often comedic household presence. It is constantly at risk of being taken apart and analyzed by Nene's genius inventor relative, Takumi Korobase, who has a deep and undying scientific interest in its unique construction. To prevent this, Bur is frequently locked away for its own protection, though the darkness of its confinement is a source of genuine trauma for the creature. Its key relationships are defined by this dynamic: it lives in a state of semi-captivity with Nene and Clarion, enduring Clarion's ire for its behavior while being protected by Nene's more gentle nature. Other characters, like Colonel Kurtz, seek to capture Bur to gain control of its original, buried main body and its immense destructive power.

In terms of development, Bur remains a largely static and comedic character, serving as a recurring source of inappropriate humor and a burden for the main duo to manage. Its narrative function is often that of a MacGuffin, as various antagonistic forces seek to possess it to unlock the power of the original giant robot. Despite its small and seemingly helpless state, Bur possesses notable abilities. It is a sophisticated piece of technology, an intelligent, sentient being with its own personality and will. Its primary ability is acting as the key, being the central nervous unit that can interface with and control its original massive body, making it a highly sought-after object of power within the series.
