Description
Lestrade, a Scotland Yard inspector entangled in the Raven case, collaborates with Sherlock Holmes while maintaining a composed demeanor and a polished appearance: gray hair, black eyes, and a signature gray suit paired with a red tie and black shoes. He shares a paternal bond with Lily Watson, daughter of his late colleague John H. Watson, having guided her since childhood as a steadfast, avuncular figure.
A decade before the central events, Lestrade assassinated Watson, meticulously framing Lupin III for the crime—a plot fueled by his clandestine ties to the Raven organization, a covert syndicate manipulating British political power. Despite Raven’s disbandment prior to Watson’s death, Lestrade’s allegiance persisted, complicating his motives. Lily’s fractured recollections of the murder, including the haunting image of her yellow scarf from that night, unravel his guilt.
When exposed during a London confrontation, Lestrade flees across London Bridge with Lupin and Holmes in pursuit, transporting concealed World War II-era nuclear explosives. Trapped, he implores Holmes to deliver a final apology to Lily before triggering the explosives, obliterating himself in the Thames. His suicide by detonation reflects both the crumbling remains of his loyalty to Raven and the relentless burden of his hidden sins.
