Description
Nishi Nishiaraidaishi is a first-year student at Usakame High School and a main character in the anime Usakame. She is a member of the school’s tennis club, which serves as the official rival to the Kameido High tennis club featured in the parent series Teekyu. Nishi is small in stature and generally quiet and reserved, often maintaining an air of mystery around herself. She is not the type to initiate conversation, and her eccentricities contribute to the quirky dynamic of the club’s four members.

Her most defining motivation is her deep admiration for Ayako Suzuki, a senior in the tennis club. Prior to entering high school, Nishi witnessed Ayako playing tennis and was so impressed that she decided to join the club herself once she enrolled. This admiration underlies her loyalty and dedication to the team.

On the court, Nishi is a natural tennis player of exceptional skill, described as a genius on the court. She is highly competitive and approaches matches with intense focus despite her usual quiet demeanor. Her tennis ability is one of the club’s greatest assets, and she is a standout player among the first-years.

In the story, Nishi occupies the role of the silent, talented underclassman. Her key relationships are with her three clubmates: the easygoing and somewhat lazy Kinako Tanaka, the calm and airheaded Kurumi Satou, and especially Ayako Suzuki, whom she respects profoundly. Her interactions tend to be minimal but meaningful, often revolving around her dedication to tennis and her quiet support of the group.

Due to the short, fast-paced nature of the series, Nishi undergoes limited overt development. However, her presence in the club and her consistent competitive drive show a character who, despite her mysterious exterior, is fully committed to her team and the sport. Her notable abilities lie in her tennis proficiency, which makes her a valuable player in the club’s activities and rivalries.
