Description
Lady Armanoide is a top-class Armaroid, a mechanical being created using advanced technology recovered from the ancient lost civilization of Mars. Her body is composed of a unique living metal that grants her considerable resistance to laser fire, piercing weapons, and extreme temperatures, and she possesses superhuman strength. Before her conversion into an Armaroid, she was once a human woman named Emeralda, a princess of the kingdom of Sanborn on the planet Tasogare Wakusei, also known as the Twilight Planet. Despite her mechanical form, she retains a part of the woman she once was, including her emotions and memories of her past life.

As Cobra's long-time partner in adventure, Lady represents the serious half of the duo. She is level-headed, loyal, and deeply devoted to Cobra, sharing an unspoken but profound trust with him. While Cobra is often impulsive, flirtatious, and driven by his own sense of adventure, Lady provides a grounding presence. She can display jealousy when Cobra becomes involved with other women but does not interfere with his pursuits. At times, she shows a protective and almost maternal side, and she is fully prepared to sacrifice herself for Cobra's safety, even carrying a miniature bomb inside her body for such a contingency. Her motivation is primarily her bond with Cobra, as she supports him in his battles against the Pirate Guild and other threats without seeking personal glory or reward.

In the story, Lady serves as Cobra's steadfast companion and pilot of their spaceship, the Tortuga, also known as the Turtle. She rarely engages in direct physical combat and does not carry a weapon, instead using her superhuman strength and durability when necessary. Her primary role is logistical and emotional support, ensuring Cobra can focus on his objectives. She is also designated as one of the six Legendary people chosen by the goddess Ahura Mazda to fight against the incarnation of Ariman in Crystal Boy. Key relationships include her partnership with Cobra, which is built on deep mutual reliance and care, and her place as one of the few constants in his adventurous life.

Throughout the series, Lady's development is tied to her evolving relationship with Cobra. In early stories, she is already established as his partner, but later narratives reveal her human origin and the circumstances that led to her transformation. She is gravely wounded during the Salamander saga, highlighting Cobra's dependence on her. Although she rarely takes center stage, she occasionally saves Cobra from peril and demonstrates her combat prowess in close quarters. Her character balances the roles of devoted partner, former princess, and protective figure, maintaining a quiet strength that complements Cobra's brash heroism. Her notable abilities include piloting the Turtle, enhanced vision that allows her to see through thin walls, and a body made of live metal that makes her nearly indestructible against standard attacks.
