Description
The Grand Prêtre, known as Daishinkan in the original version, is an Angel who resides at the palace of Zen'ō, the Omni-King who rules over the twelve universes. He serves as the primary advisor, attendant, and highest authority next to Zen'ō, effectively acting as the royal vizier who manages the most responsible parts of the Omni-King's power and speaks on his behalf when necessary. One of the most significant aspects of his background is that he is the father of all thirteen known Angels, including Whis and Vados, who serve as the attendants and martial arts masters to the Gods of Destruction across the multiverse.

Physically, the Grand Prêtre is a short, slim figure with sky-blue skin, slicked-back white hair, and purple eyes and lips. His appearance shares the distinct characteristics of his Angel children, but he is distinguished by a large, blue halo that floats autonomously behind his head rather than around his neck. His attire consists of a petrol-blue or dark green outfit with baggy shoulder pads, an orange triangular emblem on his chest, and a red belt bearing the kanji character for Grand.

In terms of personality, the Grand Prêtre is consistently portrayed as calm, polite, and easygoing, possessing a warm and laid-back demeanor that contrasts sharply with the stern and fearful attendants who serve Zen'ō. He finds the casual and irreverent attitude that the Saiyan Goku displays toward the otherwise terrifying Omni-King to be genuinely amusing, even laughing when Goku gives Zen'ō a nickname. However, this gentle exterior belies a more complex and formidable presence. He can be incredibly stern and direct when the situation calls for it, such as when he silences Goku with a simple request or subdues an agitated Beerus, the God of Destruction, with nothing more than a pointed glare. He maintains a sense of order and does not hesitate to enforce the divine decrees of Zen'ō, no matter how catastrophic the consequences may be.

His motivations appear to be deeply intertwined with his unwavering loyalty to Zen'ō and his duty to maintain the divine hierarchy of the multiverse. He carries out Zen'ō's most extreme orders, such as the erasure of entire universes, with a placid and neutral expression that can seem heartless or even sadistic. Yet, his actions also hint at a more profound morality and honor. It is later revealed during the Tournament of Power that he and the Omni-Kings had anticipated that a truly selfless warrior would wish for the restoration of the erased universes and that any wish of a purely selfish nature would have resulted in the victor's own destruction. When Android 17 makes the noble wish to bring back all the lost universes, the Grand Prêtre shows genuine satisfaction and openly praises Universe 7 for their fighting spirit and selflessness.

Within the unfolding story of Dragon Ball Super, the Grand Prêtre plays several critical roles. He first appears as a mysterious and powerful figure when Goku, Whis, and Shin visit Zen'ō's palace. Whis informs Goku that his father is one of the top five strongest fighters in all the universes, with a power so immense that even Whis himself is no match for him. He later becomes the central orchestrator and master of ceremonies for the Tournament of Power. He is responsible for creating the massive arena out of the indestructible material kachi katchin, establishing the tournament's rules, announcing eliminations and universe erasures, and serving as the direct link between the competing fighters and the childlike Omni-Kings.

His key relationships define his position in the cosmic order. His primary relationship is with Zen'ō, whom he serves with a calm and steady hand, unafraid of the Omni-King's immense power and capable of gently managing his whims. As the father of all Angels, he holds a paternal role over characters like Whis, though his interactions with them remain professional and deity-like. Unlike the Gods of Destruction and Supreme Kais who tremble in his presence, Goku is one of the few individuals who treats the Grand Prêtre without formal subservience, a behavior that the Grand Prêtre finds refreshing rather than offensive.

While the character does not undergo a traditional arc of personal change, development can be observed in his gradual revelation of underlying principles. His character is further fleshed out in the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc, where he demonstrates a strict adherence to the laws of the Angels, even when it means ordering the erasure of his own child, the trainee Angel Merus, for violating the rule of neutrality. However, this development also shows his capacity for leniency and care, as he ultimately works within the rules to resurrect Merus as a mortal with a limited lifespan, allowing him to continue his new life, showing he holds a remarkable level of care and morality despite his immense power and terrifying authority.

The notable abilities of the Grand Prêtre are among the most formidable in the Dragon Ball universe. His combat power is said to be either among the top five in the multiverse or, according to the manga, the single greatest warrior of all. Like all Angels, he is in a perpetual state of Ultra Instinct, a divine technique that allows the body to move and react independently of conscious thought, and his mastery of this ability is far greater than that of his children, Whis and Merus. He possesses a range of reality-altering powers, including the ability to teleport himself and others across vast cosmic distances, instantly create matter such as the Tournament of Power arena, and observe any event in any universe through a magical staff he can summon at will. His power is so absolute that a simple gesture is enough to stop a full-force clash between two enraged Gods of Destruction, demonstrating a level of strength that even the most powerful deities cannot hope to challenge.
