Description
Crili is a human martial artist and a core member of the Earth's protectors. He is distinguished by his short stature, shaved head, and a set of six dots on his forehead, which are brands from his training days at a Shaolin-style monastery. A unique physical trait is his lack of a nose, a fact that has occasionally proven advantageous in combat.
Having spent eight years in a monastic martial arts school where he was often bullied, Crili left to seek training under the legendary Master Roshi. It was there he met Goku, who was originally his rival but quickly became his closest and most loyal friend. In his youth, Crili was depicted as cunning, insecure, and somewhat cocky, often trying to use tricks to get ahead. However, constant training and life-or-death battles with Goku molded him into a courageous and dependable ally. Despite his fears, especially when facing overwhelmingly powerful enemies, he consistently proves his willingness to sacrifice himself for his friends and his planet.
Throughout the events of Dragon Ball Super, Crili has settled into a peaceful life as a police officer on Earth, having initially chosen to retire from martial arts to focus on his family. He is a devoted husband to Android 18 and a loving father to their daughter, Marron. His family serves as his primary motivation; his wife and daughter encourage him to become stronger when Goku comes calling for help. His love for Android 18 is legendary, having famously spared her life during a previous crisis, an act of mercy that ultimately led to their relationship.
In the series, Crili is initially hesitant to return to heavy combat, but he is convinced to re-enter the fray for the Tournament of Power. He fights alongside his wife as a representative of Universe 7. While he is eliminated relatively early in the tournament due to a tactical error, he proves instrumental in training for the event, notably helping his old friend Gohan overcome deep-seated psychological fears and regain his fighting spirit. In later confrontations, such as the battle against the bio-weapon Cell Max, Crili demonstrates his enduring value not through raw strength, but through quick thinking and tactical genius, using his signature techniques to create openings for the more powerful Saiyans.
Being a human among Saiyans and gods, Crili is not defined by transformations but by his resourcefulness and a unique set of techniques. His most notable ability is the Kienzan, a razor-sharp disc of concentrated ki that can cut through almost any material, allowing him to damage opponents far stronger than himself. He also frequently employs the Taiyoken, a Solar Flare technique that blinds all opponents in the vicinity. In Dragon Ball Super, he develops a more powerful variant, the Taiyoken x100, which generates an intensely bright light that can temporarily blind even those who shield their eyes. Despite being outclassed in power, his tactical mind and these specialized abilities make him a vital and respected fighter.
