OVA
Description
Kate Masseau is a supporting character from the anime Macross Plus. She is an adult woman with green eyes and black hair cut to ear length. Her background includes Jamaican ancestry, and her maiden name is Barie.

Kate is an old friend from Dalmation High School on the planet Eden. She was part of the same social circle as the music producer Myung Fang Lone and the test pilots Isamu Alva Dyson and Guld Goa Bowman. Since those days, she has married Morgan Massau, another mutual friend from their school years, and has become a housewife and mother to two children.

When Myung returns to Eden as part of the staff for Sharon Apple’s galactic tour, Kate welcomes the opportunity to reunite with her old friend. During their conversation, she reflects on how their lives have changed over the years. Kate is a friendly and well-meaning individual who wishes to see her friends happy. Noticing Myung’s erratic and withdrawn behavior, she decides to take action, believing that seeing their old companions might lift Myung’s spirits. To this end, she contacts both Isamu and Guld, hoping to arrange an impromptu reunion.

Unfortunately, Kate does not fully grasp the depth of the painful history and unresolved emotional conflict that exists among the three friends. When Myung realizes that Kate has intervened, she feels deeply disappointed and betrayed, viewing the gesture as a meddling of her fragile emotional state rather than a kindness. This leads Myung to abruptly leave the gathering.

Later, when Myung must return to Earth for her commitments to the Macross Consortium, Kate attempts to inform Isamu of her departure. However, the military researcher Lucy McMillan, who is involved with Isamu, intercepts the message. As a result, only Guld arrives at the spaceport, where he joins Kate and Morgan to see Myung off.

Kate does not possess any notable piloting, combat, or technical abilities, as her role in the story is entirely civilian and social. Her significance lies in her connection to the past, acting as a link to the childhood friendships that form the emotional core of the narrative. While her attempts to help create a happy reunion backfire, her actions stem from a genuine place of nostalgia and care for her former classmates.
