Description
Kogu, known in the original Japanese version as Gokua, is a member of the Galaxy Soldiers, the criminal crew serving the galactic warlord Bojack. He belongs to the Hera Clan, an alien race of powerful warriors, and his name derives from a Japanese word meaning heinous and inhuman.
Kogu is an arrogant and ruthless warrior who displays a blatant disregard for rules, demonstrated by his decision to bring a sword into the unarmed Intergalactic World Tournament. He is extremely confident in his swordsmanship and physical power, often taunting his opponents before attempting to overwhelm them with aggressive, underhanded tactics. His primary motivation is to serve Bojack in his quest to conquer the universe, reveling in the violence and chaos his actions cause.
In the story, Kogu enters the Intergalactic World Tournament on Earth as part of Bojack's scheme to challenge and eliminate the planet's strongest fighters. He is matched against Future Trunks in the final round. During their battle, Kogu proves to be a formidable opponent, using his blade and deceptive ki blasts to gain the advantage. He forces Trunks to tap into his Super Saiyan power, but when Trunks proves too strong, Kogu activates his own transformation, a Hera Clan full power state that turns his skin green and his hair red, boosting his strength significantly. Despite this, he is ultimately overpowered. Trunks shatters his sword and kills him with a powerful strike, making Kogu the first of Bojack's major henchmen to fall in the conflict. He makes a brief cameo appearance in the later film Fusion Reborn, appearing among the villains who escape from Hell.
Kogu's key relationships are defined by his place in Bojack's crew. He is a loyal subordinate to Bojack and works alongside his fellow Galaxy Soldiers Bido, Bujin, and Zangya. His primary adversary is Future Trunks, who serves as his direct foil.
Kogu does not experience any character development; he remains a static and brutal enforcer from his introduction to his death. His role is to demonstrate the threat level of Bojack's forces and to highlight the power of the Earth's heroes fighting back.
Notable abilities include his expert swordsmanship, which he relies on heavily in combat. He also possesses standard Hera Clan powers such as flight, superhuman strength, and durability. He can fire energy blasts, such as his Full Power Energy Ball, and can access a muscular transformation that dramatically increases his full power output.
