TV-Series
Description
Hima Nohara, whose full name is Himawari Nohara, is the youngest child and only daughter of the Nohara family. She is introduced after the series began, with her birth being a significant event that expands the family dynamic from a trio to a quartet. As a baby, she is deceptively capable, possessing a range of surprising physical and cognitive abilities that belie her age.
In terms of personality, Hima is a vibrant and precocious infant with a very strong will. While she can be an icon of adoration for her family, she is equally an icon of annoyance due to her mischievous nature. She shares many traits with her mother, Misae, most notably an intense fascination with shiny objects like jewelry and precious metals, as well as a relentless pursuit of handsome young men. She has a remarkable ability to discern a real jewel from a simple imitation, often discarding the latter without a second thought. This lust for sparkly things and good looks is a primary driver of her actions, causing chaos as she tries to grab whatever catches her eye.
Her relationship with her older brother, Shinnosuke Shin Chan Nohara, is complex. They frequently argue and compete over trivial things like pudding or toys, yet they share an incredibly strong bond. Hima often idolizes her brother, copying his actions and even his signature Butt Dance. In times of trouble, particularly in the animated films, they work together as a seamless team, demonstrating trust and cooperation. She also has a notable relationship with the family dog, Shiro, whom she often uses as a speedy mode of transportation when crawling is not fast enough.
Despite being unable to speak in full sentences, Hima communicates her demands and emotions loudly through expressive baby talk, which is often accompanied by on-screen subtitles to reveal her surprisingly sharp thoughts. Her physical prowess is extraordinary for her age. She can crawl at incredibly high speeds, climb stairs and furniture with ease, and possesses a level of strength that allows her to pull adults along when she wants something. She also seems nearly indestructible, frequently surviving falls or tumbles without injury. In one instance, she was able to walk after inadvertently licking a spilled cocktail, much like her brother.
Hima serves as both a source of new comedy and a subtle catalyst for growth within the Nohara household. While her infancy often shields her from direct blame, with Shin-chan frequently being accused of her messes, she is just as much of a troublemaker as he is. Over time, she matures slightly, becoming more intelligent and active, and it becomes clear that she is a perfect fit for her unconventional family. In alternate future stories, such as the film Super-Dimension! The Storm Called My Bride, an adult Hima appears working as a police officer, still retaining her distinct personality and expressions.
