TV-Series
Description
Daisy Nohara is the English name used for the character known in the original Japanese version as Himawari Nohara. She is the youngest child of the Nohara family and the younger sister of the main protagonist, Shin-chan. Her birthday is September 27, and her name, which means sunflower in Japanese, was chosen by the show's audience, with Shin-chan's suggestion being the winner. In the English dubs produced by Vitello and Phuuz, she is referred to as Daisy Nohara, with her new name being a different type of flower.

As an infant, Daisy is depicted as a precocious and vibrant baby. Despite technically being a newborn, she displays a level of intelligence and awareness that seems to mature over the course of the series. One of her most defining characteristics is a powerful and single-minded attraction to shiny objects, particularly jewels and other precious metals. She possesses a remarkable ability to distinguish genuine, high-value items from cheap imitations, often discarding the latter without interest. This lust for luxury goods is a running gag, as she will go to great lengths to acquire anything that sparkles.

Her personality also includes a stubborn pursuit of handsome young men, a trait she emulates from her mother, Misae. Whenever a good-looking male character appears, Daisy becomes instantly smitten and tries to get their attention. This behavior is so well-known to her family that her brother Shin-chan discovered he could pacify her by wearing a cutout mask of a famous handsome actor. In her household, Daisy is both adored and a source of constant, innocent trouble. She is naughty, highly active, and very mischievous, causing chaos that she cannot be held accountable for due to her infantile innocence.

Her role in the story is primarily as a member of the Nohara family, adding another layer of chaos and affection to the household. She often accompanies her mother on errands or is left in the care of her brother, leading to various adventures and mishaps. Key relationships include her bond with her brother Shin-chan, whom she sometimes follows and who has discovered ways to manage her antics. She has a close, if sometimes exasperating, relationship with her parents, Hiroshi and Misae. She also interacts with the family dog, Shiro, whom she often uses as a toy. Among Shin-chan's friends, both Masao Sato and Toru Kazama see her as a little sister figure; Kazama, in particular, is said to have dreams of her marrying him when she grows up.

Regarding her development, while she does not age in the traditional serialized sense, she is shown to grow more intelligent and capable as the series progresses. A notable exception is a glimpse into a possible future shown in a film, where a grown-up Daisy works as a policewoman, though she still retains her characteristic reaction to seeing attractive men.

Daisy possesses several notable abilities despite her age. She can crawl at an extremely fast speed, often tiring out even the energetic Shin-chan as she chases after something that has caught her eye. Her aforementioned ability to appraise jewels and detect precious metals with near-perfect accuracy is unparalleled. She also cannot speak, and her thoughts are often communicated to the audience through subtitles or her determined actions.
