Description
Major Igari debuted as a supporting character in *Shin Getter Robo*, assuming the lead pilot role of Shin Getter-3 after Benkei Kuruma's injury. He became the full-time pilot following Benkei's assimilation by the evolving Getter Dragon. Igari vanished during an incident at the Saotome Institute, presumed absorbed by Getter Rays alongside staff during a Shin Getter Robo and Getter Dragon overload.

Twenty-five years later, he resurfaced in *Getter Robo Arc* as chief of the D2 Squadron, Earth's mechanized defense against the Andromeda Stellaration. Drawing on his experience as a former Getter pilot, he trains both the Arc Team and D2 pilots at the Saotome Institute. His duties include tactical oversight in combat and mentoring new pilots like Takuma Nagare.

In youth, Igari was polite and respectful towards co-pilots, though prone to panic under pressure while maintaining overall composure. By *Getter Robo Arc*, his demeanor grew rougher; he frequently admonished squadron members for infighting but retained a fundamentally caring nature, earning the Getter Team's respect. Physically, he evolved from a large, well-built young man with a buzzcut to an older figure sporting a mustache and green cap; manga depictions included sunglasses absent in the anime.

His name, derived from the Japanese word for "anchor" (錨, *ikari*), alludes to the aquatic specialization of Getter-3 formations. As a bridge between the original Getter Team and the new generation, his history connects the legacy within the conflict against extraterrestrial threats.
