Description
Mitsuo Iwata is a veteran Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer born on July 31, 1967, in Tokorozawa, Saitama. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a child actor in 1977 and made his voice acting debut in 1983. As of June 2019, he is affiliated with Aoni Production, having previously been associated with Office Osawa and Across Entertainment. In 2013, he won the Seiyu Award for Best Personality.
Iwata is widely recognized for one of his earliest leading roles, Shotaro Kaneda in the landmark 1988 animated film Akira. Another iconic performance from the 1990s is Kintaro Oe in the Golden Boy OVA series, a role for which he was noted to have practiced extensively to perfect the character's unique voice. He is also well-known for his long-running role as Itsuki Takeuchi in the Initial D franchise.
His career includes a wide array of supporting characters across numerous major franchises. In the 2000s, he voiced Arystar Krory III in D.Gray-Man, Sunny in Toriko, and Pyunma (Cyborg 008) in Cyborg 009 The Cyborg Soldier. He also voiced Marchosias in the Shakugan no Shana series and Emporio Ivankov in One Piece, taking over as the second voice for the character.
