Keshikasu-kun debuted as the protagonist of a gag comedy manga by Noriyuki Murase, serialized in Shogakukan's Monthly CoroCoro Comic from June 2004 to May 2011. This anthropomorphic white eraser establishes his identity by placing an eraser crumb atop his head and donning a paper costume. His driving ambition centers on achieving supremacy among stationery items, frequently clashing with rivals such as Shūseieki, a correction fluid, and Kokuban Keshi, a blackboard eraser.
The manga defined his core relationships, including his owner Bōzu, a student boy, alongside allies like the pencil Enpitsu and younger brother figure Chibikasu. This foundation propelled his expansion into other media.
An anime television series aired from January 2010 to March 2013, spanning 44 episodes. It amplified his comedic conflicts within the stationery realm, depicting scenarios like erasing mechanical pencils or confronting permanent markers, all while pursuing his goal of dominance. The manga earned the Shogakukan Manga Award in the children's category in 2008.
Beyond his original series, the character featured in video games. *Keshikasu-kun Battle Kastival*, released for Nintendo DS in 2010, offered single-player and multiplayer modes. He crossed over into *Inazuma Eleven AC: Dream Battle* and *Inazuma Eleven AC: All Stars* as both an opponent and playable character, wielding special abilities like Shooting Cut, Twin Boost, and God Knows Impact.
In the *Duel Masters* anime, he appeared as a crossover figure with an expanded persona, self-styling as "The Idol of Stationeries." This arc involved a rivalry with the similar-looking Deckie, culminating in a duel where he deployed unconventional tactics—inflatable underwear and proxy cards—before his defeat.
He later joined the ensemble of *40-Shūnen da yo! Coro Coro All-Star Shōgakkō*, an ONA celebrating CoroCoro Comic's 40th anniversary. This special united multiple characters from the magazine in an elementary school setting, marking another animated appearance within an anthology format.
