TV-Series
Description
Keiji is the father of the protagonist, Luluco. He is a member of the Space Patrol and lives with his daughter in the town of Ogikubo, a place on Earth that has been sold to aliens and is now a melting pot of humans and extraterrestrials. As a Space Patrol officer, he is responsible for confiscating dangerous illegal items, a job that directly leads to the central incident of the series.
Early in the story, Keiji accidentally bites into a freezing pill that he had confiscated from work, instantly becoming a human popsicle. This accident forces his middle-school-aged daughter, Luluco, to take his place in the Space Patrol to earn money for his recovery and to keep the family afloat. For a significant portion of the narrative, Keiji exists only as a frozen body, and at one point, his brain is removed and reanimated, allowing him to speak and guide the others while still being a disembodied slab. His body, which at one point is reduced to a pile of bones, is eventually stolen by his ex-wife, the space pirate Lalaco Godspeed.
Before the events of the series, Keiji was known for being the more eccentric and wild partner in his relationship with Lalaco. However, he mellowed out considerably after the birth of their daughter, Luluco. This change in personality is the primary source of conflict between him and his wife. Lalaco did not want Luluco to grow up with what she saw as an uneventful, normal life, while Keiji was determined to protect his daughter from the chaos and insanity that had defined his own past. This disagreement ultimately led to Lalaco leaving the family to become a fearsome space pirate, hoping to rekindle the spark of insanity within him. Keiji’s primary motivation is protecting Luluco and providing a stable, normal life for her, a goal that contrasts sharply with Lalaco’s chaotic nature.
In the story, after being reanimated, Keiji is a crucial guide for Luluco and her team. He leads them to a hidden spaceship behind a closet in their apartment, allowing them to pursue Lalaco after she steals the entire town of Ogikubo. Despite being a disembodied brain for much of this time, his knowledge and experience as a Space Patrol officer are vital to the mission. His relationship with his daughter is one of deep care, and his actions are all taken to protect her and fix the situation caused by his ex-wife. He also has a combative and bantering relationship with Lalaco, constantly arguing with her while still being connected to her through their shared past. By the end of the series, Keiji is assigned to the Space Patrol's space pirate countermeasures section, where he continues his pursuit of his wife, Lalaco.
While Keiji is a trained Space Patrol officer, his most notable ability shown in the series is his knowledge of Ogikubo and the Space Patrol, including the secret spaceship hidden in his home. He does not display any special transformation or combat abilities, as he is incapacitated for nearly the entire story. Instead, his function is to provide motivation for Luluco and to be a key piece of the ongoing conflict between his daughter and his ex-wife.
