Description
Kiichi Miyazawa, nicknamed "Keybo" or "Kiibou," hails from Kobe, Japan. Born to Kie Miyazawa and Kakugo Kusakabe, he was adopted and raised by Seiko Miyazawa, joining the Miyazawa family. This includes adoptive uncles Kiryuu and Sonou, adoptive grandfather Kintoki Miyazawa, and adoptive cousin Ryuusei Nagaoka. As the 15th headmaster of Nadashinkage-ryuu, he later created Nada Shin Shinkage-ryuu by integrating Yuugenshinkage-ryuu elements.
In high school, Kiichi displays a laid-back demeanor coupled with intense competitiveness. He craves dangerous situations and challenging fights, describing the resulting adrenaline as making his "heart race." Though his love for combat gives him a delinquent appearance, he remains diligent in studies and hygiene. His simple-mindedness leads to impulsive acts, like dropping and destroying a car to reach a girl. He possesses a strong heroic streak, willingly taking blame to shield others, exemplified by protecting Jiro from the Osome brothers. Yet, arrogance about his fighting prowess surfaces after victories, declaring himself a "fighting god." This confidence coexists with a determined obsession to grow stronger and face tougher opponents. He frequently provokes potential rivals to instigate fights, often forming friendships or friendly rivalries afterward, as seen with Choushou at the Black Dragon Temple.
Physically, young Kiichi has a tanned complexion and spiky blonde hair. His typical high school attire is a white long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans. At this stage, he stands 172.0 cm tall, weighs 60.5 kg, with a 90.0 cm bust and 84.5 cm leg length. By adulthood, he reaches 175 cm and 75 kg. An early distinctive facial mole disappears in later manga chapters. In the sequel *Tough: Ryuu wo Tsugu Otoko*, he adopts a more mature look, replacing his spiky hair with longer locks.
Kiichi's journey centers on martial arts and confrontations. His brutal training under Seiko Miyazawa includes near-fatal sessions, like one where Seiko temporarily "kills" him. The core conflict stems from a historic underground match where Seiko blinded pro wrestler Iron Kiba. Years later, Kiba seeks vengeance against Nadashinkage-ryuu, sending disciples to challenge Kiichi. Key battles involve defeating mercenary Kiyomasa Samon, overcoming judo expert Shingo "The Reader" Aoi (who breaks Kiichi's arm), and facing wrestler Takahashi "The Man Eater," whom Kiichi later befriends. These fights showcase his ability to absorb and adapt opponents' techniques mid-combat.
Maturing into the *Tough* sequel, Kiichi's personality grows more serious and honor-bound, though traces of arrogance linger. He upholds strict combat principles, like insisting on fighting Baramaru Kujou despite emerging from a three-day coma severely injured. His climactic battle against Iron Kiba ends bittersweetly: bested, Kiba attacks him from behind, but the confrontation triggers a spiritual change in Kiba. Kiichi evolves from a hot-blooded brawler into a disciplined master dedicated to preserving and refining his inherited art while continuously seeking greater challenges.
