Movie
Description
Dr. Kochin is a biotechnology expert and the devoted assistant of Dr. Wheelo. He appears as an elderly man with a bald, oddly shaped head and wears a white lab coat, but his body is a mechanical android equipped with hidden weapons such as a machine gun concealed in one hand and a cane that fires energy blasts. His primary motivation is to serve Wheelo and carry out his master’s ambition to transfer his brain into the body of the strongest warrior on Earth. To that end, Kochin gathers the seven Dragon Balls and uses the wish to free Wheelo from fifty years of imprisonment in an icy mountain fortress. He also creates three bio-warriors—Kishime, Misokatsun, and Ebifurya—to act as enforcers.
Kochin’s role in the story is that of a secondary antagonist who sets the plot in motion. Believing Master Roshi to be the world’s strongest fighter, he kidnaps Bulma in order to force Roshi to accompany him to Wheelo’s laboratory. From the command center, he directs the bio-warriors and shows a calm, ruthless willingness to harm anyone who opposes his plan. His loyalty to Wheelo is absolute, and he speaks of his master with reverence. His personality is marked by single-minded dedication and a calculating nature, and the dragon‑head design on his cane hints at an obsession with the Dragon Balls that spanned many years.
Among his notable abilities, Kochin demonstrates advanced scientific knowledge, particularly in biotechnology and robotics. He created the bio-warriors, preserved Wheelo’s brain in a mechanical body, and modified himself into an android. While his own combat skills are limited compared to the main fighters, his hidden weaponry makes him dangerous in close encounters. Kochin shows no significant personal development over the course of the film; his devotion to Wheelo remains constant until his accidental death. When Wheelo tears his giant mechanical body free from the laboratory wall, his foot accidentally knocks Kochin down a shaft. As Kochin falls, his android body is damaged by energy from the laboratory’s power system and explodes, revealing his true mechanical nature. His death removes the intermediary and allows Wheelo to take direct action in the final battle.
