TV-Series
Description
Charles de Loire is a prominent supporting character in the story, introduced as a second-year college student from France. He comes from a noble French family and, despite his age, already holds the position of a company president, managing a business while pursuing his studies. Physically, he is described as tall and attractive, with an overall presence that is both charismatic and commanding.

In terms of personality, Charles is the epitome of a gentleman. He possesses a kind and considerate nature, treating everyone around him with sincerity and respect. His demeanor is such that he is regarded as a "superman" who is well-liked by all; he excels in all sports, is proficient in multiple languages, and carries himself with a natural grace that stems from his aristocratic upbringing. He is not portrayed as an antagonist or a rival with ill intent. Instead, he is selfless and observant, often prioritizing the happiness of others over his own desires.

Charles's primary motivation revolves around his relationship with Teresa Wagner, a princess from the fictional European kingdom of Larsenburg. Having known Teresa since they were children, he acts as a protective older brother figure to her. Initially, he is also her fiancé due to an arrangement between their families. His main goal in traveling to Japan is to check on Teresa and understand the life she is experiencing there. However, as the story progresses, his motivation shifts from fulfilling a duty to ensuring Teresa’s genuine emotional happiness, even if that means stepping aside.

Within the story, Charles serves as a catalyst for the central romantic tension and a representation of the world Teresa left behind. His arrival in Japan complicates the budding relationship between Teresa and the protagonist, Mitsuyoshi Tada. Upon meeting Tada and the members of the photography club, Charles quickly charms them with his affable personality, even winning over Tada’s usually aloof cat, Nyanko Big. He participates in club activities, such as a photo shoot, demonstrating his easygoing and adaptable nature.

Regarding key relationships, his bond with Teresa is the most significant. He watches her closely and is among the first to recognize her growing feelings for Tada. Despite being her fiancé, he does not use his position to force a relationship; rather, he advises Teresa to be honest with herself and Tada. His relationship with Tada is one of mutual respect, lacking jealousy or hostility, as he recognizes Tada’s good character. There is also a hinted dynamic with Alec, Teresa’s lady-in-waiting, who appears to have feelings for Charles; while he seems fond of her, his romantic focus remains on Teresa until the resolution of the engagement.

Over the course of the narrative, Charles undergoes subtle but definitive development. He arrives as the seemingly perfect, "superman" fiancé, but he ultimately rejects the notion of a politically convenient marriage in favor of sincere love. Realizing that Teresa’s heart belongs to Mitsuyoshi, he takes the initiative to break off the engagement, believing that Teresa’s true happiness is more important than tradition or his own hopes. This act solidifies his role not as a barrier to the main couple, but as a facilitator of their happy ending.

As for notable abilities, Charles is depicted as an omni-competent individual. He is a natural athlete, a skilled polyglot, and a savvy businessman capable of running a company while in university. In a more lighthearted or gag context, he even seems capable of communicating with animals, as he effortlessly befriends the family cat, a feat rarely achieved by others.
