Description
Haruka Kyan is a high school student and a key supporting character in the story, known for her role as the childhood friend and former teammate of the protagonist, Akira Tachibana. She is a student at Kazamizaki High School and a dedicated member of the school’s track and field club, where she participates as a long-distance runner. Her athletic background is a significant part of her identity, and she has a strong, toned physique that reflects her commitment to the sport.

In terms of appearance, Haruka has a distinctive and memorable look. She has short, dark brown or black hair and large brown eyes. Her most notable features are her healthy, tanned skin and the freckles that dot her face, giving her a lively and energetic appearance. She typically wears her school uniform and, during practice, a form-fitting tracksuit.

Haruka's personality is defined by her loyalty, protectiveness, and directness. She is a supportive and caring person who is deeply invested in the well-being of her friends, particularly Akira. This caring nature can manifest as being fiercely protective and sometimes overly persistent or adamant about things she believes are right. She is not afraid to voice her opinions, and her frank, straightforward way of communicating can occasionally lead to misunderstandings or arguments, though her intentions are always rooted in sincerity and a desire to protect those she cares about.

Her background is closely intertwined with Akira’s. They have been friends since childhood and shared a passion for running, a bond that was central to their relationship. The two of them ran together frequently, with Akira consistently being the faster runner. They made a pact to attend the same high school and join its track team together, a promise they initially fulfilled. A significant turning point in their friendship occurred when Akira suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury during a race. This injury forced Akira to stop running, which created a growing distance and tension between the two friends. Haruka struggled with the fear that Akira, whose running ability she greatly admired, would give up the sport for good, and she deeply missed their former closeness.

This conflict forms the core of Haruka’s role in the story and her personal development. Her frustrations and unresolved feelings led to a period of estrangement from Akira. The situation escalated when Haruka discovered Akira’s feelings for Masami Kondo, the manager of the restaurant where Akira works. Misinterpreting the situation, she became distrustful of Kondo, mistakenly believing he was taking advantage of a high school girl. This resulted in a heated argument and a brief but painful rupture in her friendship with Akira. Ultimately, Haruka is able to reconcile with her best friend. She overcomes her misconceptions about Kondo and accepts the situation. Her primary motivation remains to support Akira, and she encourages her to consider returning to running, demonstrating the enduring value and resilience of their true friendship. As a testament to her protective nature and maturity, she decides to never visit the restaurant again to avoid causing Akira any potential trouble, and she sternly forbids other track club members from disturbing her there.
