His name derives from the unusual midare hamon, a disorderly blade pattern that sets him apart from his fellow Toushirou blades. This distinctive appearance is reflected in his highly feminine look: he has shoulder-length strawberry-blonde hair, large blue eyes, and wears a frilled dress-like combat uniform paired with a hat and black thigh-high stockings, leading many to initially mistake him for a girl. Despite this, he is unequivocally a male touken danshi.

Midare's personality is cheerful, friendly, and playfully teasing, often making lighthearted or suggestive comments.
