Description
Honebami Toushirou is a wakizashi, a short sword, forged by the renowned swordsmith Awataguchi Yoshimitsu during the Kamakura period. He originally existed as a naginata, a type of polearm, before being shortened into its current form. This transformation is a key part of his identity as a sword. He is also recognized as one of the many Toushirou brothers, a large group of swords from the same school.
The most defining aspect of Honebami Toushirou is the profound loss of his memories. As a result of being caught in a fire, specifically the Great Fire of Meireki in 1657, almost all of his past has been consumed. He speaks very little, and when he does, his words are often minimal, short answers. The one image that remains clear in his mind is of flames, which he feels have taken everything from him. This trauma has shaped him into a reserved and withdrawn individual who is difficult to read, carrying a quiet sadness, but also a certain fragility and beauty.
