Description
Anzu is a girl with powerful telekinetic abilities who was sent from a mysterious organization in a futuristic world to eliminate another esper, Hina, after Hina was sent to the present day. She has blond hair often styled in a side ponytail and yellow eyes. When she first arrives, she is aggressive, rebellious, and quick to attack anyone who gets in her way, lacking general common sense due to being raised within the organization. Her initial appearance in the modern world is dramatic: she appears naked in the middle of a street, quickly defeats a local biker gang that harasses her, and steals the gang leader's clothes to wear. She struggles with the concept of money and attempts a dine and dash at a restaurant before being caught.

Despite her rough start, Anzu possesses a deeply kind, honest, and sweet nature that becomes more apparent as she adapts to her new surroundings. She is very expressive and shows her feelings clearly, which stands in stark contrast to the more apathetic Hina. After being defeated by Hina in a contest of strength, she abandons her mission and attempts to return to her own world, but the device required for her transport is accidentally damaged, leaving her stranded. Forced to survive on her own, she initially resorts to shoplifting, but after meeting a homeless man, she learns to live honestly by collecting cans and selling magazines. This experience teaches her a great appreciation for money and the value of hard work.

Anzu is incredibly polite and grateful to those who show her kindness, and she possesses a remarkable work ethic, always willing to work long hours to help the people she cares about. When she is eventually taken in by the Hayashi couple, who run a Chinese restaurant called Rairaiken, she insists on working to earn her keep, wanting to help around the shop and repay their kindness. Her foster parents are moved by her determination, and she quickly learns the ropes of the restaurant business, from greeting customers to cooking. She cherishes her friendships and is excited by the simple prospect of playing games with Hina and another friend named Hitomi, as she deeply desires companionship. In one instance, she works hard collecting cans to buy a video game in the hopes that Hina will play with her.

Throughout the story, Anzu's role evolves from that of an antagonist and rival to Hina into a figure representing heartwarming growth and resilience. Her storylines are often touching rather than comedic, as she learns about family, honesty, and self-worth. When the homeless camp that took her in is forced to disband, she is initially resistant, wanting to fight to keep her new family together. However, the men from the camp help find her a permanent home with the Hayashis, who become her de facto parents. Her development is marked by her transition from a troublemaker to a hardworking, responsible young woman who values every yen she earns. After the Hayashis retire, Anzu takes over their legacy by running a ramen cart, and she eventually saves up enough money to help them reopen their restaurant. She is formally adopted by the Hayashi family.

In terms of abilities, Anzu possesses telekinesis, allowing her to move objects with her mind, and she also demonstrates superhuman speed. Her psychic strength is greater than that of an older esper named Mao, but she is not as powerful as Hina. Despite the power at her disposal, she rarely uses it in her daily life, preferring to rely on her own hard work and determination. Her birthday is March 25th.
